I've seen 4 ply before. Occasionally I find 3 ply.

“not enough. not enough”? that’s 3 times more than the 1 ply we’re finishing up. The trick is to fold it over. FWIW I didn’t buy the 1 ply on purpose, I wasn’t paying attention.

I am a bit curious. AS someone who has always used a bidet/water spray, I wonder if there is a cultural issue that leads to people not wanting to use water as opposed to Toilet paper. Would someone care to explain why they prefer toilet paper to water, if they do? Damn curious, I will start another thread if need be.

There are too many situations where you don't have access to a bidet and have to use TP anyway, at work, gastronomy etc. Most private bathrooms don't have it here. If you're used to TP the whole bidet procedure seems to be too much fuss. The cultural thing may be how common the installation is.

I live in the US and I have been in construction for 40 or so years. I have seen 1 bidet in a home. I asked client how they liked it and she told me they found they used less toilet paper. It was a separate bidet. Something I’ve wondered about but was to embarrassed to ask about, how do you get from toilet to the bidet? Do you squat walk over to bidet from the toilet? Seems a bit weird to me. And I guess you still need some toilet paper to dry off? The ones that attach to the toilet look like they are easier to use. Side note: bidet sales of both types have skyrocketed in the US. Wish I had stock in those companies. Edit: didn’t mean to just quote andi on this rannh1 since it was your question.

Would someone care to explain why they prefer toilet paper to water, if they do? Damn curious, I will start another thread if need be. I’d say in part a cultural thing, but only in part. I remember living in two homes with no running water. I had one house that not only did it not have running water but no out house. I considered building one but I remembered the smell and the flies so I dug a slit trench as my Uncle Sam taught me. It worked fine and I’d shovel a scoop of lime in afterwards; no smell, no flies. As for showers the river wasn’t far and then during a rain storm I stood under the roof’s over hang. There were times in the field (hunting, working, a military ops, SAR work, public toilets, even military latrines in the field, etc.) that paper came in handy. In more modern times and present location more often than not a public restroom will not have any paper. I was having breakfast one morning in a restaurant when a woman got up and went to the ladies’ room only to come running back minutes later and grabbed a handful of napkins and ran back. I’ve had dates that accidently spilled the contents of their bag to reveal a handful of toilet paper. I’ve learned to carry some in my daily backpack. As for my present house I don’t think even you would want a bidet here. The water company draws its water from farther up the mountain and it’s COLD. I’ve been in mountain streams that did not equal this temperature. I’ve never measured so I can’t put a number on the temperature. I have no water heater. In order to tolerate a shower I’ve installed a small electrical heating coil on the shower head otherwise I could not stand the water. Twice the coil went out and it was like ice cubes, soft ice cubes but ice cubes coming out of the head. It would be like squirting ice up your butt. You must be use to soft, sheltered, modern city living. :)

I have 17 rolls..Good for awhile. When I was In Korea in 2002 and in 2012 I've used public toilets in older areas that were essentially a hole in the ground where you squatted down, did business, wiped with TP, pushed this little flusher handle that would gently flush it away..In this one hotel I stayed at in the city the toilet was the most technological toilet Ive seen. It had a heated seat and the bidet was installed just under the lid. It had two separate nozzles. You would push a button on the side to choose which one you wanted and it would squirt warm water. one nozzle was for up front and the other nozzle was for the rear. There was TP and I used a square or two to dry off. And of course cant forget the good old military times of always having tp in your bag and digging a hole to go.

Ya' know ... we're kinda avoiding the elephant in the room here.
So let's get a lil ... ahem ... gross ... personal ... intimate ... ?
Maybe to better " ration " our supplies and get the " most " out of every sheet we have in stock ... uhm, some ... delicate ... personal attention ... needs to be paid to ... ahem ... a quite delicate and sensitive area of our bodies that can get ... ahh ... a bit hairy.
Hopefully I need go no further with this ... helpful household hint.

You know, if worst comes to worst, both the door pockets of my truck are filled with fast food napkins. I’ve used worse. 😏
