What sword would you bring into combat, and I mean any type from monsters, people, average scenario or extreme. But your only allowed one.

What sword would you bring into combat, and I mean any type from monsters, people, average scenario or extreme. But your only allowed one. I would choose this MAGNIFICENT example of medieval sword design...its made for HEAVY work cuz its HEAVY too (7+ lbs. LMAO) and can defeat any and all enemies and monsters according to its original owner who dictated its design and construction based on his many many years of acquired sword design knowledge, wisdom, combat experience and last but not least... magical skills. Once you get this baby moving.. its not stopping for anything... hehehe. Its the perfect tool for a perfect warrior! Best of all, its a $1400 sword on sale for under $825..and perfect to open carry in Texas too.. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/59333/strong-forged-longsword-scabbard

This time I'd take my old Generation 2/Legacy Arms Lucerne! XVa bastard sword, usable single or two handed, cut and thrust.

I do think personally it’s the best for power and durability combined, but different swords have different purposes. It was literally made to kill anything and everything, but some may not like that big of a sword but I do. But thanks for the kind words, and my... magical skills. And I seriously didn’t intend for it to become this big deal, I am just trying to sell it for a project of mine. I’m also a huge katana guy, and I hear the lion dog is a pretty good blade.

A project of yours eh? You were trying to trade it and $300 for a Christian semprinier Shieldmaiden...

Right, ideally yes but who has that blade to be honest, AND is willing to let it go. So I just switched it too katana for my other big project. I’d love to get a shield maiden but there just rare.

But now that you mention it, I will just give the option for both again. And the topic is your sword of choice for combat.

I’d personally go for an oni if I was gonna buy a Hanwei, but I definitely could respect that choice. And thanks, glad to see you like the sword.

I don’t think it’s really bling, it’s more fittings I think, but yes a better polish. I think, I haven’t checked it out in a long while. But yeah the preying mantis is the best bang for your buck right now for that line up.

Actually, the most robust blade I own, making it probably the best choice for true combat, is my Howard Clark L6 katana (and waki), polished by Ted Tenold and mounted in higo handachi fittings by Patrick Hastings with a 300 yr old higo tsuba. I know this sword well and have successfully competed in Tai Kai tameshsgiri / cutting competition with this sword throughout the US and in Japan. I did not use it for Iai competition... I used a shinshinto era nihonto with bohi for that. If the requirement is European blades... I obliviously have a few to select from there too... but the L6 steel is without a doubt the mores durable and robust I own.

Eh, I still like it more than the other Hanwei’s, if I was gonna buy one. I’m not a Hanwei guy personally.

Yes but maybe not Hanwei's L6 lol about 1:50 Clearly not a correctly heat treated L6. Knowing its from china, its probably not L6 at all. The key to L6 banite is the very complex heat treat. This is what it takes to destroy a Howard Clark L6... sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/post/563872

Can I have a shield too? If so I'd pick my kopis, made by Lyndle Driggers.

I'd use the scariest sword that I own, An ATrim Makers Mark type XVIa. It's fast, it's light, it can thrust, it can cut. A little more length would be nice, but it is what I've got.

Without any more defined details of the scenario's circumstances, I would probably choose a cut and thrust sword like my Albion Doge.

If I were to strap a sword to my belt and go forth, it would be either my 1906 light cavalry or my English Backsword.
That said, my 1860 cutlass is within hands reach behind the seat of my pickup truck...
