I was just thinking the same thing. I want to get one just to stick my finger through that guard.

I was hoping to have them next month, but I was not happy with the blackened parts as they were for the prototype because the method they used made it subject to minor flaking of the paint.. They are in a pretty rural area so if we can't get powdercoating, we will have to blue it instead..
If it wasn't for this issue, there would have been a few available next month - but now it will likely be spring 2019..
Personally I love this design, especially the way it can bisect water bottles with a thrust! That's certainly different..

Certainly different is an understatement, that's downright cool.
Glad to hear they'll be showing up eventually, these fantasy designs were really pretty fantastic. This and the Danu (I believe that was the name for the leaf blade sword) struck me as being particularly awesome. Look forward to giving them a whirl when they materialize next year.

Will it be able to accept a spear haft?

I am doubting it. A sword tang, and heavy blade? Wouldn't make a very structurally sound, or well balanced spear

Owner says they will begin production next month. Instead of powdercoating the fittings, have you considered having them forge the fittings with a high chromium content. Had a chat just now with the owner and he says its possible, but will cost more. Honestly it looks good with the steel showing instead of it painted. [EDIT] Spoke to the smith again. Apparently, the Aelutian Gladius will be redesigned.

So with everything going on, I’m a bit confused.... is the Gladius gonna happen?

Will mine glow if I purchase one? “When the correct mass/volume is achieved (enough to forge a Gladius between 18-22″) the alloy begins to glow with a warm orange light from its core, and will continue to glow until the final heat treatment, at which point the magical light is absorbed deep into the blade and it becomes inherently magical without the need for the usual extensive processed required to enchant a blade.”
