Functionally, the main differences are that the Windlass has a more protruding guard and a more slender grip. Its blade is more flexible. I consider the Windlass being a good repro, it handles well. Not as good as the original, the Ames is an excellent sword.

Yeah, that difference in distal taper is disappointingly significant. As usual.
