I see that I have a large number of notifications. I would like to delete to free up space on the server but fail to see a delete button. I could use some assistance here. Thanks.

I'm not sure. I don't have the option to delete my notifications either.

Yeah, it looks like they were not intended to be deleted. It's a shame as considerable space could be saved and photos that disappear from time to time may not happen as often.

I don't see the problem, the notificatiins seem to be only a short text with links, micro minimal server space. Do I miss something??

That was my thought. I can't imagine each notification being more than a few bytes, so not really a server drain, but I do agree they should go away after a while.

While an individual notification may not be large the number builds. I have 133 notifications this year alone. That averages 1.23 notifications per day. I joined 1 Oct 2010. That was 6,288 days ago and if everything is equal, which it is not but for an illustration, that’s 7,734 notifications. When you consider the number of active and inactive members over the years those small bits get much larger. Why not be able to remove them and save space?

Is it a question of subscribing to threads or following other users? I have 0 notifications. I don't subscribe to threads and don't follow activity/users. Small text lines are insignificant in space use, as mentioned. How many clear all cookies on their devices? As far as server space for the board, image files and server load serving those files are the larger issues. It is an old and ignored issue, as so many simply don't resize files. Mostly because it is taken for granted and few realize why their data plan costs go up What ever

Notifications come whenever one is quoted, tagged, or receives a private message. Probably other reasons, too. It's surprising you wouldn't have any, edelweiss.
While their size is insignificant, even in the thousands (a few thousand might be a couple KB) it would still make sense that a user could clear them. My notification bar on my phone doesn't keep a record; once I've read the message, the notification goes away.

When someone hits the quote button regarding a post that I made I get a notification. My question was a simple one and that was how can I deleted my notifications in order to save some disc space. And I repeat “MY NOTIFICATIONS”. It does not apply to you. GET OFF OF MY BACK. If you don’t know, which you obviously don’t stay out of it.

There must be something else in preferences one can click to modify the aspect. I see a flag when I get a message, showing at the header. It may be a version/skin thing as well, again in preferences.

I could just say; "look here ya yutz" but I generally try to be helpful, even when I often approach things as condescending. Is it condescending of me to now point out that if you go to your profile settings and THEN go to notifications, all might be clear as to how one can tailor their time here? It took me all of two minutes to BOTHER to LOOK at MY settings to find the solution. All y'all have a good day and remember that even though I am young, at 63 and a stroke survivor, I might just have something to share and in the mean time...... Just never you mind. I have my own issues this week fighting with a slippery monkey fist. The first genius that can actually understand that can have a gentle kiss behind their ear. Well, mebbe if you were you whisper sweet nothings for a spell. Jerks btw, I am smarter than you (obviously)

While I am ranting (and I probably shouldn't), this board continues to deride other forums but I would never see the negativity expressed on those boards that I see here on a regular basis. If I am coming across as crass or condescending, take a good damn long view of my overall participation across the net on sword/blade related boards. Yes, I am a certified jerk at times, with little equal but I'll go out of my way for anyone to help (or in some cases argue).
Get your own heads out of your collective arses (nothing personal).

In this menu you can stop getting notifications but I see no way to delete the ones you've got already.

I have no old notifications after having electing not to get them. Maybe dump any cookies related to the board, I do dump cookies from time to time.

In this menu you can stop getting notifications but I see no way to delete the ones you've got already. That was the first thing I thought to look for. It's one thing to know how to disable new notifications, but the question was about deleting old notifications. I'm not sure disabling notifications now would clear notification history, and frankly, I can't be bothered to try. I'm at work right now, and honestly the mobile site makes navigating anything a pain, anyway. Maybe pgandy can tell us if, when he disables notifications (unless he chooses not to) the old notifications disappear. Likewise anybody else who might be inclined to try. Edit: I see it's already been verified while I was typing this. Good to know.

Did you try unplugging it, waiting for a minute and then plug it in again? I would blame cookies first and I believe mentioned them in my first reply. Basically, reset your view. Log out of the board, clear cookies and tell me what you see when you log back in. Or not.

I am not going to disable the notifications, I am glad to get them. But at some point in time they need to be cleaned up.

Disabled quote-notification, still there. Deleted cookies (browser function, so not absolutely safe), still there.
