Another great review. The Cold Steel Greatsword has been my #2 behind the Hanwei Lowlander for some time, both held off for the same reasons of questionable quality control, but it seems I needn't have worried about either. If I ever find myself back in the market, I'll have to get one of these, too.

Another great review Chad - and very informative. An unintended durability test (always good to know that a sword can survive an occasional oops), lots of photos and tests, youtube vid and more. Full marks again - 30 review points. P.S. Your pretty close on the money with the pricing. Kult of Athena almost always have the best prices, but you can actually pick it up for another $15 less ($264) at Trueswords

hehe ! Glad to see you like it, i also got one and tried some similar tests myself with a light plywood plank... which got utterly destroyed in the process without any significant damage on the blade. The whole assembly is tough as nails, it is well made and feel exactely like it. It takes some strenght to weild it and it's something that should be considered before buying it, its truly a massive piece certainly overbuilt with all the goods and bads going with it. Pleasing to look at it also makes a impressive display.
I agree with most of your review, except the fact that i found the handle circumference to be way too big, it takes some strenght off your grip and with a sword this heavy i found it to be somewhat of a problem. In fact a total reshaping of the handle might give this weapon a big improvement. Also The leather covering the ricasso is a quite cheap, they should reconsider this part IMO.
Have fun with it, i know i certainly did ! Great Review and +1 karma to you !

I too am impressed. Quality of coldsteel's european swords is pretty hit or miss (more miss than hit from what I've seen).
Good job.
Is the pommel crooked in that last picture with your dog?

Hello Adam, after looking at the picture, I agree it does look crooked. I checked the sword and it is tight, straight and secure. It must be the angle of the shot or something against the highschool in the background. Thats strange. Regardless, thanks for the reply!
