Alright guys, so i'm using the term review loosely because i frankly have no experience with swords, training of any sort, etc. This is from someone fresh and new.
So, a little backstory. My friend got me watching Matt Eastons stuff, and that kind of transitioned into the usual (skallagrim, metatron, etc). After a couple months of obsessing, i decided to make some purchases (you can see my original post for more info there). Basic gist is, i ordered a VA Irish Ring Sword, and an Albion Kingmaker. Well, after making my first post i decided i would immerse myself into the SBG community, find where i could participate, etc. Well, fairly soon i found myself in the classifieds section (uh oh). So i'm looking through, admiring the myriad different swords for sale, when i stumble upon the thread for this Lockwood. The waisted grip immediately caught my eye, especially as i love waisted grips with the metal bit in the middle (yes, that's a highly technical term), i started admiring the lines and decided to do a bit of research on the brand and the blade typology. Now, i normally don't like very thin blades, aesthetically speaking, but something about this one just caught my eye. So, after a bit of hemming and hawing, i decided, F*** it, time for an impulse buy! It gives me something to fondle while i wait for the other 2 heh.
After unpacking it (fantastic shipping btw, shoutout to christianshort) my first thoughts were:
1. Wow, this is really light? (yes i expected it to be heavier, significantly so)
2. Ow, damnit, that point is really pointy (thats what i get for "testing" it with my finger).
3. This is... smaller? than i was expecting. (not really sure what i was expecting, but pictures obviously are different from real life).
Never the less, i didn't do any swinging, because its the middle of the night, i'm inside, and frankly i don't know what im doing and would rather not injure myself. I did do some holding and "point control" sort of things just to see how it "felt" and, well, again i have absolutely ZERO training of any sort, but i can absolutely see why these were so popular as thrusting swords. Even with my complete lack of ability, i was able to control it pretty well.
That being said, i am absolutely stoked with it, can't wait to learn some technique and maybe hack and/or stab a few water bottles.
All that being said, on to some pics! (camera was my phone, which has a slight fisheye up close, the sword is not bent heh):
Hey look, it matches my watch!!!
