Well Richard, after my previous experience, I was looking for something a bit more "basic". While I definitely appreciate the finer points of a more complex construction, I prefer simplicity as long as it's executed at a high level. The only real issues I had as far as price/what I got was the lack of a full same wrap. I knew ahead of time they were panels, but feel full wraps should be the standard at that price point. The kojiri/kurigata finishing was a little disappointing as well, but the saya itself and the fit to the habaki is quality. Minor quibbles aside, I can say that I'm very happy with what I got. dude are u still a go for the forge direct han jian? I hope u are so i can see how it turns out, about 3 more weeks or so for my own king of qin jian

Unfortunately, due to the Ronin Katana association I felt it was best to just step away. Paul was very gracious and understanding of the situation.
I'm sure it will be a fantastic sword, and I look forward to seeing how yours turns out.

But that's neither here nor there... I do want a Jian though, so I'll probably have to go with Sino or Huawei then do some custom work on it.

The one im getting has a rosewood scabbard and not ebony so it was a little bit cheaper but the look is more to my tastes, sinosword ships really fast 1 day after I paid but china customs suck and sometimes they return stuff and then they have to ship all over again, all of their packaging ive heard is really good, the black one is the jian still available It's very nice

Bad ass!
They've got a couple of listings for the octa-type blades, so which one did you get? One is listed as having a screw on pommel and the other is listed as a "pinned pommel".

Both of these have screw on pommel with a pommel nut, which is their most secure construction, both are new, I don't think you can find it on their website so u would have to send them an email to inquire about it, I believe the black one was $299 including shipping

These are probably 1 off customized pieces, the blades appear the same as the regular orchestral han jians but the fittings are dramatically different

I sent them an email on it. Hopefully they've still got it laying around... I've gotta get me some of that 8-sided blade action in my life.

Yep, they still had it. At over a hundred less than what's posted on the site, I pulled the trigger on it. Hopefully it won't spend a month bouncing around the chinese countryside before I get it.
