*I do not work for MC's and receive no special treatment from them. I'm just a long-time paying customer.* I just received an email from a customer service rep at Medieval Collectibles out of the blue. She was just inquiring as to how I was doing, as I have not ordered anything in a while. I replied to her that money was a bit tight since the holidays, to which she responded in total agreement. I thought that was super nice of her to do. I've ordered A LOT of stuff from them and never had a bit of trouble, and they will bend over backwards to answer your questions on any product that is IN STOCK. They have even gone so far as to get an item off the shelf and give me EXACT measurements and specs. That speaks volumes in my book. I guess her ploy worked...I'm thinking of ordering a new tabard from Mytholon. I haven't even gotten service like that from KOA! Medieval Collectibles is a bit pricey on their swords, but most of their other items are very reasonable...IF you shop wisely. Just thought I'd share this pleasant and unexpected nice gesture with you all. There ARE still SOME people who practice good business ethics.

That is pretty cool. As you stated, looks like it worked if you are planning on making a purchase because of it. Good marketing!

They're the same company as Dark Knight Armory, oops I hope that wasn't suppose to be a secret. Yeah they're pretty good, just placed two orders with them recently. Mytholon makes some really nice stuff I got a leather tunic and a shirt of theirs from DKA with their 20% off sale. The tunic was $110 with the sale it was $88, KOA had it listed for $119. Both orders I placed was with their 20% off sales

Yeah, DKA and MC's are the same company, but I think MC's is the 'original'. Some folks have issues with them, but I've never had a lick of trouble. Returns...very few, and no problem. Their customer service is really remarkable. The only issue I have with them is their 'out of stock--ships within 2-4 months' thing. If you are gonna advertise a new product, at least have it ready to ship out. I mean, come on. But, if you order a product that is 'in-stock', you will get it fast and in good order or your money back...guaranteed. I'll remain a customer until I'm done wrong...which I doubt will happen. And, yes, Mytholon makes some really nice stuff. Their armor is a ton better than Epic Armoury, but their helmets could be a bit larger in size. All of my Mytholon armor is strictly for Ren-Fest wear, but it is first rate stuff...and not overly expensive.

Sounds good. Wonderful customer service is the ticket (along with decent products) to being a well thought of business. I've heard plenty of good things about DKA and MC. Will definitely keep them on my list of places to look.

Dark Knight has always shipped punctually and without problems. They are high on some items but have a large inventory and I found it a pleasure to deal with them.

Looks like I'll spring for some of their stuff then soon. I'd like to build a costume before my local Ren-faire starts up. Already have the basic footprint, just need to order the stuff.

They have some great deals on clothing, and their Mytholon armor is just downright bad-ass for just 18ga. It feels thicker, more like 16ga. If you have a noggin anywhere near 23-1/2'' like mine, look elsewhere if you plan on a helmet from Mytholon. Especially if you plan on wearing a light cloth coif and mail coif under it. Here's my gorget and pauldrons from MC's and Mytholon. Love 'em!

The tassets are from Mytholon also. The breastplate is from Epic Armoury, and the ultra-wicked Great Helm is something I picked up on Amazon from a company called 'Ectoria'. Sword is my H/T Norman. I got a BUTT-LOAD of comps that day! All bought from MC's---except the sword and helmet.

What i'm imagining is some form of gambeson (doesn't have to be armor grade, just the texture and look), with leather gauntlets, Mytholon's Garen Suede Tunic, some black pants and some simple boots, color depending on the belt I use. I might even do a gorget of some kind, there's a few I've liked the look of. Not really going for a historically accurate look for anything, really. I just want to look cool in a semi-fantasty/real setting.

The gorget in my pic is a swivel-side model, held tight by a leather strap and steel buckle. Around the neck, it's a comfortable as a cloth scarf. Get one...with the pauldrons and a set of bad-ass vambraces. Wear this over chainmail and a nice belted tabard....you'll be the talk of the Fest.

As far as 'moolah' is concerned....just start adding up, and see what a CUSTOM set of armor will run you.

I also picked up this set of bad-ass bracers from Mytholon. Articulated wrist and elbow with a wrap-around plate.

I've been looking for a decent gorget and pauldrons. Those fit the bill nicely!

Dang Christian, I see by your picture that you're an old guy too. I'm willing to bet a lot of the guys here are. We may have to grow old but we don't have to grow up. The older the boys the sharper the toys.

ChrisA...The gorget, pauldrons, and bracers were all bought from Medieval Collectibles, and made by Mytholon. www.medievalcollectibles.com Gunnar---No truer words have ever been said.

ChrisA--I believe the gorget is the 'Gustav' model, and the pauldrons are the 'Markward' small model. They have a large version with a bigger shoulder plate. The bracers are the 'Vladimir' model. Great stuff...and affordable.
