Am I really the only one that bought one of the chinese line? The other rings were loose too - the lower one was the only one glued (like 1/4 of the ring) but clearly it didn't hold. Would not support that forge even though ronin got their feather steel ones back in stock. That's exceptionally lazy. You can't tell me it costs a lot to glue or pin some bronze rings in place... I really hope it's not the same forge they use for katanas... im sure many people bought these forge direct swords and im sure not everyone experienced the same thing you have, it just the one you picked out of all of them reminds me the most of the power ranger swords. nothing wrong with that but yours is the most fantastical of them all

They all came loose? Perhaps its for the better these have been discontinued, the problems you've mentioned are numerous and indicators of shoddy craftsmanship. Hopefully you've managed to turn it around somewhat with some customizing.

It ranges from skepticism on prospective buyers from underwhelming impressions from actual buyers. I can't recall anyone gushing with enthusiasm about them. About the fittings, not even this piece, but a lot of the fittings just seemed a tad gaudy for my taste. For me, as soon as a single handed jian crosses 3 lbs. in weight I'm out. When some get close to 4 lbs, I'm really out. Let alone when I hear about experiences like this.

i like the more simple looking ones too, some are gaudy Minimalist jian have a charm that's hard to explain but really resonates with me. It's almost as if they're the quintessential straightsword in its simplest, perhaps purest, form. When there's natural wood tones to the aesthetic, like with the Cold Steel jian, I'm particularly enthusiastic. But I fear my rambling has gone and derailed yet another thread, so I'll cut myself off here.
