The bronze looks good and if you did end up staining it a really dark brown or almost black it would probably look really good Thanks. My buddy is coming down in a couple of weeks and as a project we'll probably do the staining and brass bands. I'll post pics of the finished product. Look forward to seeing it. I definitely want to pick up a hammer or mage are some point so that might encourage me to grab this one since it was probably at the top of my list before.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Honestly if I had a "do over" I'd save up and get the dragon one from Tod Cutler. If I'm only going to have one hammer, I want it to be the COOLEST!

I still need to sand down the scratches and the edges a bit, but it's done. We screwed in the brass bands then sanded off the top of the screws so they look like rivets. I'm not going to stain the handle. I like the contrast as it is now. If I darkened it, the color would be too close to the leather. I'm happy with it. Just a little bling helps a lot.

I just ordered the Dragon Hammer, a medieval eating knife and a dagger from Tod, and the shipping was 26 GBP to USA. That didn't seem too bad to me.

That brass looks great. Wish i had some metal skills

Did the overlap then sawed off the excess, drilled the hole, inserted brass screws then Dremel off the ends. No heat or heavy machinery necessary.

That looks great. You did a really good job. I like that leather wrap a lot. How did you do the risers in it? Agree with both of your opinions. It would have looked better with darker stain but now like it better with the contrast. Bet you feel more connected to it now that you’ve done that work on it.

I bought a Viking sword from them a couple years ago because it had a historical hilt nobody else makes. Ordered it sharpened from KOA. Hilt is fine. Blade reminds me of the sharpened old Del Tins or early DSA ones.

well I spoke too soon (typed too soon?). DHL got the package to within 70 miles of the destination and then it failed to clear customs, so they are sending it back to jolly old England.

The leather wrap is what it came with. It's rubber cemented to the wood...I had to trim off some of the bottom of it so the brass band would fit flush. Yeah, feels like mine now! Not a lot different, but enough to make it special.
