You're doing allright. Keep up the good work. I might need help with my contributions since I am sorta new to this. I am mostly a sci-fi or horror guy. For all I know I am making my characters way too OP, but I tried give them some flaws as well as strengths You have NO IDEA how OP one of my characters is. Fortunately, she's not a Main Character and is actually designed as an extremely competent antagonist or a hurdle that the protagonists cannot overcome using strength or brute force, so not a Mary Sue. As a hint; She could take on the Lich King in a straight fight. Thankfully when I pitched the idea to Paul he pretty much approved (probably because of the 'not main character' part of her design). Unfortunately, I won't be able to upload her design anytime soon. Have to finish Magic 3.0 first amongst other real life issues. Your characters, on the other hand, are pretty much perfect protagonists. They have lots of rooms for character and ability development and could learn a lot more about the world around them. Their learning experience and journey could prove interesting to the readers. The only thing we don't know about them is their personality. I'm guessing the girl is a little naive and idealistic while the boy is an aloof loner (though not annoying like those loner-type boys in teenage novels). Well, if you're a sci-fi/horror guy, why not build the characters first, and then design their skills and abilities? Make them interesting even without their powers. After all, most Sci-fi/horror protagonists are usually normal human beings without special abilities.

Any additional input is appreciated Also it would make sense the antagonist would be an extremely big hurdle to overcome. I designed my characters that they have skills that make them special, but they have tons of room to improve as the story progresses. I always enjoyed that in stories

Any additional input is appreciated Well, you can start by emphasizing the character's personality, ambition, ideals, career, and vulnerabilities. Basically everything that drives and motivates the character in question while leaving out gender, appearance and skills/powers. In essence; they'd still be a solid character even if their power is taken away. Once that's done, everything else could just come together like puzzle pieces. If you do have a well-developed character, you can easily describe them without going over their powers and abilities and even appearance if you're skilled. here's an article on the basics of character development: www.springhole.net/writing/character-creation-and-development-theory.htmAlso an article to avoid terrible parts of a character descriptor: www.springhole.net/writing/uselessly-vague-descriptions.htm

Aoifa: Her biggest ambition is to meet her father and to know what he was like as a person. She would always fantasize about what life would be like if he was in her and her mothers life. Not to keep them from poverty, but to fill in the gap he left behind in their life.
She also always had a desire to make things easy for her mother, who worked in a tavern as a cook. She herself has never been much of a cook, and was a bit head strong for most guys, so being married off to someone of wealth was always a challenge. So she decided to help her mother by hunting, as one skill she always had was with a bow, and not to mention how sneaky, quiet and quick she was. She could pick her way into any nobles treasure chest, or even into her home when the door was locked.
By hunting, she was able to provide them with quality food so that they always had the energy to do work and make ends meet. She also made small earnings for luxuries by stealing, which provided her with the material to make her armour and provided her with a bow.
Her biggest fears is misfortune befalling her mother, and also she fears feeling weak and incapable. She always sought to be equal or to rise above men, as she saw them as a cause of their misfortune, starting with her dads refusal to acknowledge her.
When she finds the ancient sword of Danu, she finds a new calling. She now knows she must become a royal guard, even if just to speak to her father just once
Nuada: His ambition is to become a worthy consort to the next queen of the grove. He trains ferociously in battle, highly acrobatic, strong, and swift for a person of his race, which are usually fragile magic users. But this is where he lacks, he cannot use magic on its own as a defensive or offensive force, but instead uses it to enhance his physical abilities.
The grand council doubts him as the next predecessor, as to be a king, a tuath must be perfect in shape, and in mind. With his reckless rage, he thinks little of putting himself in harms way. But of his race, he is second to none in one to one combat. But it is working as a team he fails at. His pride and loner ways keep him from wanting to work with anyone.
He fears losing. He cannot stand the idea. This is his driving force, that he will always push against any force that is beyond him. Win or lose, it doesn't matter to him. But this is why he is unfit for king.
He begins his journey outside of tuath to find new enemies to conquer in one on one combat, determined to be a single force capable of taking the crown he feels is his, by force if necessary.
Possibly a bit cliche. But this is an outline till I make better ideas

Name: Ahshawn Gender: female Height: 5'8 Hair: black Eyes: brown Race: human Special Abilities: knowledge of the dark arts and some what limited powers Home Location: The southern seas Weapon: "The black death" a cutlass imbued with dark magics
backstory :
Deep within the marshes an orphan girl named Ahshawn was taken in by an order of magic welders and there she was taught and trained in the dark arts. After growing up and becoming a priestess , she finally felt it was time to leave. She had long wished to see more of the world and so one night when the moon was bright enough for her to find her way ,she left the order and fled in a small row boat to the coast.
Soon the promise of piracy lured her into using her dark knowledge to gain a ship and crew. Wanted posters began to pop up in all the coastal settlements with her likeness, yet no one could capture her.
Her sword was named " The black death" and was said to have possessed some dark soul or spirit ,even a small cut would result in a rotting black death unless it was countered by some other magic treatments.
This was only the beginning of her tale. In the years that followed she would become known as the dreaded pirate queen of the southern seas.
