Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

I started off collecting pocket knives because they were practical to carry. First were traditional like Case, GEC and Boker, then larger moderns like CRKT and Kershaw, gradually expanding to pricier brands like ZT, Benchmade, Brous, Hogue, Protech, both flippers and assisted or autos, preferring a 3.5” to 4” blade. With the prices they ask these days (and since I have enough to carry a different one every day for a few months) I find swords a much better value for the buck…so much so I’ve been selling off my pocket knives to fund my sword collection.

Fixed: Randall1, Parsons2
Fixed diving: Puma
Folding: Opinel
Folding multiblade: Victorinox
Footnotes:
1. Aircrew, for use with the SRU-21/P vest.
2. A "Holloway" pattern, which I carried for ground tactical stuff, and still carry for hunting. It amounts to a dirk or gladius, and you can't kill it. Parsons was a custom smith in the Ft. Worth, Texas area in the 1980's.

Lonely Wolf forge. Wes Beem makes the absolute best blades I own.
