Based on my really poor kanji skills and google, it appears that the first one just says sword certificate. The inside appears to be some person's testament to the quality of the sword. My Japanese is pretty terrible, especially kanji, so perhaps someone could provide a better translation. From what I can tell, it is one of those certificates Chinese forges stick in some of their swords to add a little extra appeal. It doesn't qualify it for anything that any other Chinese made katana would or anything like that. It's more of a little bonus a forge would send you.

ok, I tried a friend at a local dry cleaners (hate to sound so cliche hahaha!) She immediately said its japanese and she can't read it I am very curious on it since it was a pawn shop find, poor thing was in a corner with a load of United Cutlery sets... The only thing missing was the bag, which I lucked up and did find one with the same print/material online and bought it. In any event, the price I paid, I consider a steal for it. Thank you sir, the most I can tell is #16 of some series. I'm hoping it will say what forge it was made in, or what company possibly imported it.

Basically says, yeah - sword certificare - フルブシドウ - 古武士道 both read Furubushido (sword brand, pretty basic brand - means old bushido). 刀剣 is sword, slightly archiac use (first character means blade/sword second one, er - same thing- so sword sword! Lol)..
Only thing is revealing is 平成十九 - this is Heisei 19 which means it was made in 2008 which makes sense as this is when Furubushido as a brand was popular. (actually says the full date, 28 January 2008..)
At least it is broken in, wood cured, etc (worst case scenario, it is dry and a bit cracked)..
It is not native Japanese - the rest is just saying the brand name, Bushido, Samurai, etc. The date is interesting though.
