Lol Freq, yeah the fit one out of Shakespeares Sister was in it! The bananarmor is the yellow samurai armour (ancient bronze china museum history item) that shall be ordered at the same time as the batana-kanana!
Digs, love the design but can you do three million layers? Is swedish damascus T10 powdered soil deposited steel able to be worked on outside of a ninja sect yasikuni shrine forge? I'm not so sure.

Read the basic treatise "Apes in a cage" and tell me SBG has ever been different. Tell me internet trolling is much different than it was during the Atari and Vic 20 years. Some moderators in their green rooms regard these surges as Silly Season. School breaks, coming of age and computers as a new meduium. The latter, no so much these days as most kids have at least a smart phone at an early age. One can ignore repetitive discussions, or try to be helpful. It is not only youngin's. A classic might be a most recent sharpening quest from a username implying they know something about sharpening (note that the question was answered at SBG but not at another venue). It is also not just newcomers that justify less than optimum swords and the basis of SBG was to do just that (justify cheapies). It can be hurtful when help offered is read as condescension. It actually takes less time to link a dozen previous discussions than try to enlighten anyone. I had written here recently regarding the perceived elitism felt posting elsewhere. SBG (by and large) really isn't that different than any other board. Adrian Ko had some pertinent thoughts some years ago and put it to words. www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.php?20942-Time-to-Grow-7-Steps-Towards-Becoming-a-Better-PosterMyself? I had posted greetings to the SFI beginners section thousands of times and continue to try to be helpful. Loved and hated, I don't think the net worth losing sleep over. Some kind soul is bound to help someone out, to the point of tedium. Today's newbie may well become tomorrow's expert. More than one in ten can benefit for even basic contribution and response. Others can be fairly easily read after their first introduction. Suck it up ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I think you missed the entire point of this post. How so? I am obviously missing the point of this quoted reply. My understanding of your original post regarded repetitive and defensive posts by novices. I replied to that context of forum activity. If we are enjoying that activity, I say "Well done" ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Lol. Well, it's not that I disrespect new members, it's just that, as a forumite, we strive to supply accurate information and good help to noobs. The same thing happens every year. Just like in the post. We find it comical because it's happened every year for SEVERAL years. It's not to pick on the new guys. We still try to help them. They just don't listen or try to spread misinformation and we gotta stay on top of that.

I hope we will get lots of new people in. I feel we've lost good bunch of folks during this year, and there haven't been too many interesting discussions lately which is very unfortunate. ![:(](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Peoples recommendations are like apples and oranges, many of us in here think differently about things and there is no set standard. I thought this would be about Black Friday deals, maybe there will be few good deals...

The eternal ebb and flow of the tide.
More frustrating at times is the fast food approach to any interest. Those that want only the most superficial understanding of a subject and wanting the drive up window service when buying something. Often damned if you do or don't broker "the best sword" Then the ultimate arguements of "why should I pay that much when my $50 sword is everything I need but find me a better sword at the same price".
Quite often, the search for information is after buying a sword and finding negative feedback on a given sword. Few spend more than a few days looking at swords before their first purchase and go looking for some sort of justification.
The repetitive nature of threads is compounded now with how many browse. It is rare that newcomers read sticky posts/threads and because many are surfing on phones, most certainly don't bother with the search function or read page after page of thread headers. Search functions baffle a lot of browsers. FAQ tutorials ignored. Youtube watched but rarely searched.
I have slowed down in greetings and limit them now to those I can actually contribute information to.

Indeed but with the economy the way it is, it seems like every day is a sales day. Deals so frequent that I am having a hard time saving for the high ticket items. I am havng a hard time prioritizing and just spent on another lump. I really, really was saving for a new camera and bought another sword and some knives. More swords on the horizon at basement bargain pricing.

Lol. That's awesome. For some reason I imagined these images playing as a slide show while some sappy slow song was playing.
