Edge retention is how long an edge stays sharp, usually measured in % compared to initial sharpness, once an edge goes below a certain % (you set) its done.
Did you look for edge reflection once you where done testing them? What did you find?

Yes, I did, and found nothing. I ran my fingers along either side to check for rolls, looked closely for nicks and dings, and checked the sharpness against the pad of my thumb and found no change.
Pretty sure I mentioned this all before.

Whoah. Hey. How's it goin'? Sorry for not keeping up, but I've had hella PC problems and just got one running at around midnight last night. Currently on the work PC.
I'd just like to give a big thanks to everyone who put in the time and effort to participate. I did my best, but just couldn't hang with the big dawgs.
It has been decided that Round 3 will be put on hold for the time being. Random is about to be up to his ears in knives to judge between the first two practice rounds and Round 2 of the actual competition. He needs time to get those results out, and us smiths need time to get other things in order such as commissions, family time, etc.
Also, for anyone that said they haven't seen much, we ALSO decided that we will no longer be keeping it a secret "who's knife is who's." Any progress pics will be encouraged to be posted here instead of on the Facebook chat. Like Random said, it was mostly logistics and trying to get rules set. Things like that. But we will try to keep the competition looking more active from now on.
I hope this game continues to grow and maybe evolve beyond what it currently is. Thank you to everyone who participated, who followed, and to the mods for helping get this up in the announcements section.

Welcome back to the fun, Mike. That reminds me, I never did put up anything about your would-have-been knife... I've still got it, but don't think I took any pictures or anything. I'm still trying to find my card reader, might have to cave and buy another...in two weeks when my next paycheck hits...

I was kind of hoping you would, but it's no big deal. RIP would-be knife. You will be missed.

I'd intended to fit it into the original post, specs and all, with (if I could get it) a photo of the crack under my loupe for that "ooh, magnification" thing. Speaking of, it might be interesting to do that with the other knives, too; get an idea of who's edge is the "finest" of the bunch...
