Larry, if you are truly interested in this sword and plan on purchasing it in the future we can reserve and set aside one for you.
Just let me know and how long you think it would be before you order (and remember your SBG discount!).

So I've been wondering, how would this compare to the Windlass Arming Oakeshott XIV? Does Henry blow it out of the water? Or are they just....different? If anyone has had the opportunity to try both, which do they prefer?

Of course I can not answer your other question, since I lean tot he Henry I know it would come off biased. ;D For Sure! ;D ;D

Berethorn, talk to Brian of DBK custom swords. He has handled both extensively. Clyde I do have some questions for you. I read the Gen2 King Henry Review on MyArmoury and there were some things there that worried me greatly. Namely I read that the tip was grinded down too much and is likely to take a set. I also read in the same post that you will inform the Forge to fix this issue. The batch that has currently been sent to Jason of AOV, would these swords be affected but the excessive grinding around the tip? Also, when is your XVI riding sword comming out? I am very interested in that piece. Thank you in advance.

I'd take a Henry over the Arming sword. I haven't cut with a Henry, yet, but it tracks better than the Arming sword and seems slightly more agile, which is impressive considering I think the Arming sword is the most agile sword I've cut with, yet.
But hands down the Henry looks better, and that puts it above the Arming if handling were equal. Also, the Gen 2 scabbards are bar none the best in the business for sub $300 swords.

That's just what I wanted to know, thanks! Out of curiosity, and trying not to derail this thread, what makes the Gen 2 scabbards better?

That's just what I wanted to know, thanks! Out of curiosity, and trying not to derail this thread, what makes the Gen 2 scabbards better? Wood core, low profile (skinny and shaped to the blade) with a final snug fit. Windlass is a floppy hard leather sheath, though they have the best chapes & lockets. DSA is getting better, but they are still big, bulky and are loose on the final fit.

I am very interested in that piece. Thank you in advance. I would not worry about it too much unless you are going to be piercing boards. It happened when the tip was placed on a piece of board and leaned into a flex. So the needle tip went into the board during the flex. There was allot of rigidness of the blade and it came back but because the tip went into the board it stayed, but that was because it was too thin. It should have been 3/16" thick at the tip not 1/8" thick. But please remember one important aspect here. If the tip had been rigid like the blade, as Chad Arnow said on MyArmoury it would have snapped. It is better that it did what it did than to snap off. But we are going to thicken the tip out. The Knight's Riding swords will be here to ship the 2nd or 3rd week of August.

Carmina Burana is good for that sword. You should have played it all the way through. ^_- However. I see that I have a lot of researching and studying to do before I am ready to write a review. I like that sword and I am a huge fan of Henry V film adaptation by Kenneth Branagh. XD
