"I command you to rise from your grave and rescue my daughter." Geee-hosaphat! Altered Beast? Now that's necromancy, but mine is stronger.. "You will be eaten by a grue." When I was a kid, I played Zork (on my C64) so much over the course of a couple weeks, that I had recurring dreams/nightmares of unending screens of text.

I also found it too light and short to be a satisfying two-hander and a little unwieldy for a one hander. Some people like that overlap though. Very solidly made, but the handle was chunky and squareish.

Necro thread. I am looking for some info regarding how flexible this blade is & also where it tends to flex along the blade the most? For example I have a windlass in which the last 1/3 is where it flexes "naturally". I have had a nice little bonus in work & am considering a cheap ish present. Thanks It's even in thickness like a machete. That means it flexes at the most narrow part of its blade profile, which is the forte. This is not ideal. However, it is thick enough that it generally stays stiff when you swing it unless you strike something hard. Thanks that was what I was wondering.

Looking for something of a similar blade length (21-23 inch) that can be used in one or two hands. A mix of tool/weapon. It's pretty much between this or a semi custom hand & a half Kukri that will also be double the price. Thought about a ko-katana but missed out on a closing down sale on some locally. Also briefly considered the windlass runic seax but it is single handed.

Cold Steel Chinese Warsword Machete? Or the Tactical Katana Machete? Both are illegal in the UK. Otherwise I would own the warsword machete.

I'm already a lucky owner of the Hanwei military dadao.
Though I consider it decidedly a two handed sword.

Thank you for your email. "Unfortunately, we will not be getting the Cutlass machete in with us, along with the Tactical katana, Chinese war sword and Thai machetes, as these fall under the UK’s curved sword ban, where it is illegal to sell import or hire any curved blade over 50cm from the hand guard that has not been made in the traditional manner. As these machetes are based on swords and have not been handmade, we are unable to bring these in to the UK." Response from UK cold steel

Actually that's a really good point the condor Sinbad scimator would be illegal aswell. I doubt it counts as hand forged.

The thing about a curved blade like this is that it's great for slicing cuts but not as great at imparting percussive force for chopping. So if you want one to be a tool at all, try a straight edge like the CS all terrain chopper. It is not good looking but it works very well.

I have handled one in a store it wasn't as heavy as I feared from reviews.
