Dave; is yours original? It looks very nice and like a beastly but still fencible broadsword. Uhlan; Yours is the first original Walloon I've read about, (other than MyArmoury folks whining) I wouldn't have expected them to be light at all, more of a chopper based.

It's a period weapon. It is a cut and thrust weapon. 36.5x1.25 inches. PoB is 7 inches. Weight of the sword is 2.4 lbs. Hilt is very spare. The blade has an advanced distal taper. These swords were VERY popular and all over Europe for most of the 17th Century. The elliptical blades lasted longer (1788).

Than again I haven't seen very many. By advanced distal taper do you mean like what we see on 19th century military swords?

Sword quality and typology evolves at different paces by region. What you get for output depends on available craft, time, energy and money you commit to armaments. Simple answer to your question is, yes. ;)

In any rate or description, I think it's an awesome piece. Especially since it looks so New! 36.5" x 1.5" and 2.4 pounds are impressive blade stats to me.
