Huh, so it is peened I always assumed it was a threaded construction due to the extra length compared to the crecy You can see where it is peened and not completely blended into the pommel.

Checked the sword after coming home from work today. The oil down into the grip seems to be helping. Pommel has less play but not 100%. I turned the sword blade down for awhile and no oil came out which means it has soaked into the wood. Will give it a few days to see how it does.

The Rob Miller Ranger I bought awhile back had the same type pommel as the CF version. It had play in it as well. I think it must be threaded with the excess peened down as I just turned the pommel tightly to the right and it is solid now. Had to file a little of the peened portion as it had extended the metal out slightly and had rough edges. Not a big deal though. Attachments:
