Yes, this email arrived today - quote You may have seen a few changes to the KnivesShipFree website. Namely the addition of a tab at the top called, "Knives for Kids." Late last year, Wendy and I were talking about what we wanted to do in 2015. We talked about wanting to give back to the knife community and to help parents pass their love of knives down to their kids. So this is what we came up with. We have put together a page to help parents think through giving their kids knives. It has some common sense stuff, as well as several videos by yours truly. Here is the link to the main page. www.knivesshipfree.com/knives-for-kids/ We are really committed to helping you introduce your love of knives to your children. We are so committed to it, that when you decide it is time to give your kids their first knife, we would like to send you a knife to give to them at no charge. end quote linkYou can get a 285 Buck Bantam WITH your child's name for nix/nada/free - HOWEVER if you are outside the US the shipping cost exceeds the cost of the knife ! eg. Shipping Method Price KSF Trackable $59.95 UPS (Worldwide Expedited) $113.09
So while a great concept it is country specific - For members in the US ++ great idea, don't abuse the offer for other countries we miss out...

Kind of funny they recommend a fixed blade but give away a folder.

I suppose shipping wouldn't be such an issue if you were ordering a few other knives. Although they might think I was trying to rort them, as I've got five kids...

I ordered one for my oldest daughter and then went back later and ordered two or my other two kids (to keep in reserve until they get older) The order for the second two went through without problem.

Good to know. I ordered two at once as well, explained in the notes section of the order each girls name and asked if it wax okay to order 2 at a time. I'd figure if would be since it's flat rate shipping to Canada. My order confirmation came through to my email about a half hour later and it looked all good as well. I'll be holding onto these knives for a few years until my girls are old enough. Probably will make wood gift boxes for them to make them even more special.
