First thought: Man, Morgan Freeman is getting OLD. Second thought: What kind of sword is that? So narrow, with no guard...count me in. Third thought: This seems a bit...hollywoodized? Over-embellished? I dunno, could be good. I don't watch movies, so I'll probably skip it, but I could do with a close-up on that sword.

Meh... Looks like it could be just so-so...or incredibly bad. Just based on the weapons and clothing, they picked not-very-functional stuff that doesn't work for the heros, just to make them stand out. Then picked normal and functional weapons and whatnot to equip the run-of-the-mill sword fodder. That's usually a good sign that whoever made it had "stupid premise" as a subconscious goal.
But I could just be a movie snob hard$emprini...

Looks a bit Hollywoodnized and i missed real HEMA figthing. But since i featured as a stuntfigther in a big Dutch movie i learned not to judge by the Trailer. I will surely watch it.

After "King Arthur" I can't watch anything involving Clive Owen and a sword. Sorry, Random, that is one sorry looking sword from what I saw. No guard, ugly ricasso. The only thing going for this one is Morgan Freeman and I doubt even he can save it. I reckon I'll pass.

I'd have to see the sword in a better angle to really judge the aesthetics. Lack of guard is no shortfall to me, I prefer it. Didn't get a good look at the ricasso, but I'm inclined to take your word on that bit. I have to admit, I find it rather odd that Morgan Freeman is apparently the one in charge of everything. He...kind of uh...sticks out...a bit?

You aren't alone, Holg, a lot of people liked "King Aurthur". All that manly campfire camaraderie put me off mostly tho the story line really didn't grab me either. Keira Knightley wasn't hard to look at and I might have paid more attention to Pullo but I hadn't seen HBO's "Rome" yet. I wasn't all that impressed with "Excalibur" either. Okay, boys, not in the face.

Granted, but let's just say this looks a different time and place, with different people. Strikes me as an odd choice, not for lack of ability, but for really grinding in that "token" bit... Still, it's Morgan Freeman, and as long as he's talking, I'm listening. I probably won't be watching, but I'll listen.

Second thought: What kind of sword is that? So narrow, with no guard...count me in. .... but I could do with a close-up on that sword. Yes, looks a little like a jian blade. Reminds me of my Practical Tai Chi sword, but without a guard (and with a fuller and ricasso). I like the way he used it in that first scene, finishing the guy off with a downward slash through the torso.

I was thinking it looked king of like a jian, too.
I think it said at the end it would be released in select theaters and On-Demand; That tells you their expectations right there!

Still, it's Morgan Freeman, and as long as he's talking, I'm listening. And that, my friends, is why we need to petition Morgan Freeman to record himself speaking every word in the English language so we can enjoy his voice for decades to come... That or invent immortality; I'm not really picky. As to the trailer, it looks like a fairly standard Hollywood medieval fantasy (particularly the sword, which kinda reminds me of Blade's from the Wesley Snipes movie), albeit with its own take, so it could be good, but I'd settle for watchable. Also, for the record, I also rather liked Clive Owen's King Arthur; it wasn't the greatest movie, but it was pretty decent and I liked the Roman spin on it. My main complaint was the pacing, as it seemed to plod in a few places.

Reminds me of my Practical Tai Chi sword, but without a guard (and with a fuller and ricasso). While there are jian with ricasso, jian with fuller(s), and jian without guards, this one just looks like a fantasy movie sword to me (or maybe a big sword cane). Looks like an untapered steel bar with fuller and edges. Won't balance or feel like a jian. (Of course, this is just being picky. Many people will be reminded of jian and similar by this.) (Did some jian today. With the Cold Steel hand-and-a-half wasters. They don't balance or feel like jian either.)
