Yes, thanks Dave. The Hanwei made a nice little project. As I said in the review, it handles much like a smallsword with a military hilt stuck on it. A hilt that is build too light and a grip that falls apart also. The Rheinfelden is much better in many ways. In my opinion it could use a slightly longer blade, with a little more heft, but it beats the Hanwei by a great margin.

As always, first class information, well presented. The first Windlass Rheinfelden, that guard looks a fair bit like the lamented Hanwei Renaissance Side Sword's setup. (It, too, suffered from "not enough blade" disease.) I liked the guard on the Rheinfelden a lot. Thanks to your input, I am now searching for the Hanwei analog, as I am too poor for the Nordic version of the Windlass :( Too bad thats out of production too. Grrrr Not enough blade perhaps, but at least it looks the part :P

Even if its not - most things in Mr Kelly's collection are quite nice. His cast-off's are another man's treasures :P
Of which I have two :D

Non bonum quia sunt aere capulos americans.
Deo gratias, quia prima usquam dibs.
Si tibi placet, ut illuderet quandoque bonus amicus es.

Just a question - is the Rheinfelden peened or threaded at the pommel? I know the munich is threaded, and the Rheinfelden looks kinda similar in construction...

5 or 6 years ago. I believe it was in the catalogs when I started collecting. Recession started in 2008 or so and things started disappearing real fast.
