Any update thana357? I decided to buy a Condor dadao and ordered it two nights ago from True Swords (caught a sale...it was only $71 before shipping!). I'm going to do a traditional wrap on the handle and ring...saw some guy did this on another board (can't recall which board) but it looked awesome and really improved the sword's aesthetic. Should be fun to try wrapping, which I've not done before. Eric. $71 for Condor Dadao is a good deal you can get the CS at later date if your wife permits. I brought the CS to Razor's cutting party yesterday. There were 70 beach mats and hundred of bottles but BBQ ribs ,chicken and hotdog got in the way of testing . We cut bottles with it and it cut beach mat pretty good. I would say not bad for $60 Dadoa. I brought along 3.5 pound DaDoa and that one is no fun after tummy full of food and afternoon sun.

Sounds pretty good. Does it feel more like a machete or a dadao?

Sounds pretty good. Does it feel more like a machete or a dadao? It feels close enough like a dadoa and it can cut mat better than some of my swords.

Cool. Is it a bit floppy like some machetes or on the stiff side (or inbetween)?
Thanks!

In my humble opinion the blade shape (slight curve with wide belly) is single attribute to make it feels more like a sword than machete. I can speed up my swing to help with the cut .

That was my jumpy-artistic bottle cutting video. I later did a more complete review, which I'll link here in case anyone's interested. After owning it for a while I've concluded the following
-Yes, it'll cut trees down and take any abuse you can dish out -No, it's not too whippy -Yes, it's a great value for the money and a ton of fun -Yes, you'll need to modify the plastic grip for comfort
And finally, several purchases later I kinda wished I had gotten the Condor instead, because I'd like to see how a slightly heavier and better quality blade would do if the machete has done so well. That and the sheath. I can draw from the CS back scabbard thingy fairly quickly with two hands, but not at all with one and really, it's pretty flimsy and cheap. The Cold Steel is great if you've got $35, and that's it, or if you're going to attack blackberry vines with it.

I love my condor dadao. As seen in my avatar, the grip in my opinion needs a good wrap for comfort, but it's a beast and by far the most fun I have in a pure cutting sword.

Red, I watched your tree cutting bit and see that the machete has a tendency to bite the tree, an annoying characteristic of machetes with hard wood. If you change the edge to convex or at least knock off the corner you will find it helpful in reducing if not eliminating the problem. Generally machetes are too thin to do this with but that one has a thickness just under 3mm which will give a start and certainly be better than that V edge in regards to tree chopping.
