Hell, I used to cut in my back yard at my old place in full view of at least a dozen houses with people out and about all the time, at a safe distance of course. I'd also hear sirens regular, you can hear them in some if my vids but t I did live in a fairly rough neighborhood then. I half expected the cops to show up at some point, guns drawn and say "put down the sword". Never happened.
I did have the neighbor directly behind me ciome over while I was cutting once and ask me to watch his house while he was away.
I think people knew I was just a guy with an odd idea of fun and not a threat to them. I believe the police figure the same thing, most of them fellas are pretty bright from my experience and I've met a lot of them in youth, professionally you might say.
Nice test, Germanic.

I dismantled this sword. It's now a blade and tang peened to a pommel with a guard and pommel ring loosely attached. I removed the black plastic layer, and also removed the wooden core by splitting in two lengthwise.
The tang is interesting.

Now I have to figure out how to create a new handle.

Yeah, sorry for the tangent Looking at the pics from KoA, it appears that the handle (and consequently the tang that lives therein) is quite thin, especially compared to the width of the blade. Was there any sign of bending in the tang? Is it possible that a minor bend or twist was responsible for the fixtures coming loose? Yes, there was a minor bend in the tang. As such, I dismantled the whole sword.
It appears as though the tang may be weak.
