I don't have the sword but the warsword machete. At c. 2 lb it doesn't feel lightweight at all and matches the compact indoor fighter dao idea. I don't want to have to move double the mass (and pay a significant amount extra for it, 440 € in Germany). Nothing wrong with the machete version for sure, and I have a lot of stuff in that size & weight class. The weight diff is around a pound (2lb 10oz. vs 3lb 10oz.) but the POB may be closer to the guard on the heavier one, still substantially heavier, but I kind of want to chop a man in half (a guy has to have a dream, right) . Now DRINK dat beer.

I had one ages ago. It was a good sword. Quick in the hand for being a big slab of steel. It was well fit with the exception of the cord wrap that I ended up removing. It's been a while but it was fast handling and had a lot of power. I have no experience with antique examples mind you so I'm not sure how it compares but the cold steel version felt like a good sword to me. Around the 250 mark I think it's well worth it. I have no experience with the machete version.

As someone who has used the machete version quite a lot, it does start to feel lightweight and an extra pound or two would not make it sluggish.

I saw a YouTube vid (DaDaoChen, I think) where the guy reworked edge to 20 degree convex and the thing was an insane cutter. That long handle and short wide blade wasn't the fastest, but it sure wasn't slow (double cuts), and you know that if needed it could instantly incapacitate with a single blow no matter what the criminal was wearing (minus ceramic plate armor).

I'm interested in Dadao and was wondering about this sword...maybe to purchase for killing this new zombie thread. Anyone have one, and what do they think about it? Seems a compact indoor fight ender with the right technique to deal with the 3 1/2lb. weight. $140 factory seconds...I'd of jumped all over that sizzler of a deal being they are over $265 at the cheapest. In honor of Halloween, second Zombie resurrection by me of this thread (1st one was TWELVE YEARS), and after 4 3/4 more years I indeed jumped and got one off a Midway USA sale. It feels solid and balanced, for what it is, and not too heavy at a little over 3.6 lbs. With such a long handle for the 23" blade, you can vary the amount of power and reach by having your hands nearer or farther from the guard. Hassan Chop and Trick or Treat!

I had one myself probably 17 years ago(back with the brown and black leather sheath). Was a damn fun sword for a long time. Grip overwrap ended up coming off on me but I used a gun checkering kit and wood stain to give it some grip and make it look a little better. Was one of my first and I've got fond memories of it for sure

Ach! I contemplated one of these way way back when they first came out and I had a serious kriegsmesser itch that absolutely no production maker was filling--then within a couple years started to. Now, when we live an an absolute embarrassment of riches in the hobby and I can't justify adding it to my wish list, your guys' glowing recommendations make me really want to add it anyway. Aaaargh! :D

You can definately get a feel for it from the machete version. The machete is lighter but has a furter out PoB. Though in the US the prices might be closer together than for me in the EU (where it's basically 10 fold).

It's a good sword, but my dadao itch is currently scratched with the LK Chen model lol
