Full disclosure
I'm in no way employed by Columbia River Knife and Tool and have no affiliation with the knife designer James Williams. I did pay under MSRP by using amazon, $75 before shipping.
Disclaimer:
1. This is an almost 5 inch blade length folding knife and may not be legal in your state to EDC, please check local laws.
2. This knife is SHARP AS F&*%! Please be careful when closing, one tiny knick and I bled like a stuffed pig.
Initial impressions:
Goodie a box! It arrived early this morning from amazon and I immediately opened it and admired thus fine folding knife. It felt heavy in hand for a folder right away. This is something I found myself liking a lot. Aside from a minor knick on my index finger I was overall happy right off the bat.

The blade:
You really have no sense of how large it actually is until it's open in your hand. With a nearly 5 inch osaraku zukuri blade it really looks like a folding kaiken, fit for emergency seppuku if need be. Immediately impressive features were the sharpness as mentioned earlier, the thumb disk for easy opening, the geometric yokote (on a folding knife, eeeeek), and a spine ground the same as Japanese swords that sports distal taper.
The handle:
The handle is a thick piece of G10 with a G10 spacer, stainless steel frame lock, and the CRKT proprietary LAWK. This handle is thick and can kubaton if need be. It also sport a pocket clip clip at the very butt end as well as a lanyard hole. I recommend using the lanyard hole as this carries deep in the pocket, so much so it disappears.
Testing:
Along with my knife arrived a brand new long coat this morning from amazon, this was my first test of the ONK. It opened both box and plastic packaging with ease. Throughout the day it handled a series of unimpressive EDC tasks as well. But wait, there's more! After leaving work today I decided that I should water bottle cut with this, god decision as this is capable of static cuts. It was super duper fun! My favorite test however was my dinner, a Christmas style boneless ham. In its uncooked state I took the slashes which at first I thought did nothing, but upon closer inspection there were two 1 inch deep 3 inch long lacerations and a 2 3/4 inch deep 5 inch long laceration. This was followed by a light thrust which easily went handle deep. No damages were sustained during testing and even the black coat is intact.
Pros:
Tough locking system
Sharp out of box
Geometric yokote
Traditional ground spine
Cons:
The LAWK must be engaged manually
May not be legal in your state
Overview:
Get one! Even if it isn't legal to EDC in your state it's a great backyard cutter. Military personnel will be impressed with its meat cutting capacity and strong locking system, might just save your but in a pinch.
With the over all lack of cons I'm forced to award this 5 out of 5 stars. It's a pocket samurai sword, get it!
