Did not have a shobu zukuri katana and after looking at a few bought this folded one from Hauwei: www.ebay.com/itm/271609278106Did not want to spend very much as I am primarily a Euro collector with a few Japanese style swords which I do admire as well. Attachments:

That is a very beautiful looking model they sell, was looking at it yesterday during break. I have a few of their Japanese style swords kept around for display and occasional stress reliever, but primarily a Euro/Chinese sword collector as well.

How was the experience? That's what concerns me with this seller. Also, how long did it take to get to you from the time you purchased it? Did you request any customizations? Thanks!

If you are like me and want great communication after the Buy It Now button is pressed and PayPal $ is sent, then be ready for frustration. For instance, after buying my second sword from them, I heard nothing. So about a week later I ask if they got the payment. This was last Thursday, the respond that day that they would be shipping my sword on Monday. Great. Well Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday pass with no contact. I email them Wednesday night asking for the tracking number, since they said it would ship on Monday. They take a day to respond, and today I am just told that they don't have any of the tsuba or fittings that I asked for, which is on their list of free fittings. So they are waiting for the factory to make more so they can buy them, to finish my sword. They did say I could choose another tsuba and fittings or wait for the new ones to come in. I tell them I was debating between two sets when I ordered it anyway, so I would go with the other tsuba and fittings. I asked them to let me know if the second set I chose was OK. So far no response. Frustrating. Just an email here and there letting me know about the problems would go a long way with me. But I will get a real nice sword at some point.

Just ordered the stock sword yesterday. I have had several of their swords over the last few years and never had a problem. Customs have been based off current offerings with very minor changes.
I am of the mind that the swords I order from the couple of Chinese forges I like will arrive whenever they arrive. I always receive them and don't watch the clock or worry about it. The ones off the shelf come fairly quick from my past experience.
I currently have a high end medieval custom from an American smith that was finished almost a month ago and has not shipped yet. Maker says his camera is in the shop for repair and he wants to take some pictures for his web site and Facebook page before he ships the sword. Now that is starting to piss me off..........

Lol, he should send you the sword and ask help from you to take the pictures and e-mail him. Funny reason to delay the sword.

the bottom line for me is that the swords from this seller are magnificent and gorgeous, but communication leaves a lot to be desired. I would not rank him as high as I would rank the lion dog by hanwei, but I really would like to get a sword from this seller nonetheless. The quality per dollar is top notch. I just can't deal with the customer service issues. Some people can, and they're patient, and they have a different level of expectation. However I just can't sit around for two and three months waiting for a sword to show up, or never hearing back from the seller for one+ weeks after sending a message. Not acceptable in business. I really wish it were not so, because I have my eye on the same sword. I would really love one of my own!

I am like you that the customer service, or lack of it, bugs me. But... He has over 600 feedbacks on eBay and has 100% rating. You will get your sword. And you will most likely be happy with it. There is just not the instant gratification. Like I said before I have a second sword on order from them. Even though I went through this with my first sword, I have gone for a second one. If you want one of the Huawei swords, go for it. Just be prepared for a wait and it will be like Christmas morning when your 'present' shows up.

yeah let me echo what Greg E is saying. You're not gonna get the warm and fuzzy treatment from these guys, but most likely you will get a really nice sword. And I say this as someone whose overall experience with them was not entirely positive. I would order from him again, but I would do so with the understanding that I am dealing with someone in a foreign country that speaks English as a 2nd language. There may be a bit of a runaround involved.
My sword was custom, but I pretty much picked things I had seen on existing swords they already had listed. In other words, I didn't ask them to do something that was new to them. I just picked all my fave stuff and had them build it that way. Only thing that was a disappointment was the same. Other than that, I am completely stoked with the sword I got from them.

The stock sword I bought was shipped the next day with a tracking number.
The custom swords I have bought from them took a few months to get which was about the same for the ones I bought from St-Nihonto.

Thanks for the reply, William. That kind of confirms what I've heard and experienced this far with Huawei. Such great swords, it's a pity. Maybe someday... Thanks Attachments:

Just got an email, my sword has been shipped. Yay. Can't wait to see the one that Mr. Swiger ordered as I have been looking at that one as well.

I wouldn't let that stop me from ordering from him. I'm sure it was a fluke.
