Brutal looking blade. :shock: Btw, off the top of my had, wide production blades I can think of are Gen2/Legacy Arms Witham Viking and Windlass Leuterit... Some Del Tin Vikings are also quite wide...

Good call Luka...forgot some of the Windlass models are wider than 2... I will add the Ulfberht as wider than 2 inches.

Thanks for the review, Bill. Michael is well-known for those big honkin' blades. Loved that super wide XIIIb he posted on here a few years ago.
Why is he getting out of the swordmaking biz?

From what I have read, he cannot make a decent standard of living off the sword making business.

I cannot confirm this is Pikula's reason, but I expect that it is true. as has been said making a living off of this is extremely hard. Pikula fell into a similar trap as Gus to a lesser extent, I think. not that he fell behind on orders but that he was not charging the price his work should have received. Michael Pikula could have become the biggest name in European swords in the world judging by the talent and vision he was showing right away. it is a real shame he is stopping but one can hardly blame him.
