I have to credit the author of "The Scottish Soldier" (Stephen Wood) for being the actual source of the photo in that scan from his book that I uploaded. I had originally posted it about 4 years ago (longer than I remembered) on another forum with the idea of doing this, but was poo-pooed by the other posters who admonished me that the hilt was "ahistorical" and the quality of Windlass' version of it was "sheetmetal" grade. I'll have to take some pics of the results that I got from correcting the mixup in the blade/hilt combination that went into producing the Windlass Scottish cutlass. Since Windlass also produces the correct broadsword blade which they use on their brass-hilted Culloden basket hilt, I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't offer an early Scottish basket hilt with that blade and the hilt that they put on the Scottish cutlass, using to cutlass blade to produce a Sinclair saber. The Sinclair Saber in those pics is one that used to be produced by Del Tin: Unfortunately for us collectors of Scottish swords, Del Tin no longer produces the Sinclair saber, having replaced it with their German Dussack: A nice sword, but.......
