So I've seen a few blades sold by HuaWei that indicated QiRen was the swordsmith. The only thing I've been able to find online is some anecodtal informaiton about how this person is a young swordsmith from China. The other thing I've been able to figure out is that the Qi Ren swords have been on the market for at least 4 years. From what I've read HuaWei and Zheng are friends. Anyway the sword seems to have a nicely crafted blade with a very prominent hamon with hi carbon mystery steel. I just thought I'd get a thread started in case anyone has any more info about this swordsmith that they have discovered. I've posted a representative picture of the sword showing the hamon. Another note about Zheng Qi Ren is that this swordsmith appears to be located in Longquan China, which is a traditional location for sword makers.

Yeah pretty much all sword smiths are located in longquan. Zeno QiRen is a young sword smith who is friends with the Huawei folks but he doesn't really have any noteworthy promenance.

I think this is pretty much all that is known about Zeno at this point. I'm going to pick some brains over at HuaWei and see if I can get him to send me a post card.

Ok, I've got a response from Huawei regarding Zheng Qi Ren. As follows.
"QiRen is young bladesmith who make some excellent quality blade. We will push her masterpiece continually in the future."
She's a lady smith. Major plus in my book.
I'm going to be digging deeper on the subject to determine some more history on her bladesmithing experience.
Also I'm still trying to crack what mystery steel her "hi carbon" blades are made out of.
Jacky was very limited with the info but I think I can be persuasive.
Ha!

I wonder if she's hot and is under 25 years old. If so, I may be able to visit her directly if I go to see my parents in China this summer.

Recent email from Jacky after further inquiry.
Hi Friend,
I am sorry I was wrong. Zheng Qi Ren is a young man. his products are mainly facing at local market. I bought this blades from him. My relationship with him, no you imagine so well. I once tried to ask him. He told me the blade made of T8 steel. I know he's keeping something from me. I can understand because we work in the same area.
Jacky provided me with the contact info for another person in China who knows more about the Zheng guy.
LOL, I guess the chick is a dude.

Both steels are very similar and considered hard tool steels. The quality of the blade will depend on the treatment by the swordsmith.

Zheng is my friend. I helped tested his swords and used his swords on plenty armor cutting test before, including cutting metal armor. His swords held up well (so you see I'm still alive and uninjured in such risky test). You may want to see a compare of his sword to some ordinary T10 hamon lung chuan katana here:
That's the smith himself in the video.
