I've been waiting for this day for a long time...ever since I first decided to pursue making this sword back in 2010. I had contacted Brendan of Fable Blades about having this sword made and he gave me a ball park price range of I forget how much at the time...I had started a new job as a State Correctional Officer and I was making really good money. Money that i started banking and putting towards having my sword finally made. Once i had enough money saved up to start getting serious, I kept modifying the design, changing it and couldn't settle on a final idea. Anyways, after elections the newly elected Politicians decided that my job wasn't important anymore and on Dec 20th or so of 2010 I was Jobless. I lost my apartment and everything id worked for and saved up, and thus my sword dreams fell almost out of existence. After long bouts of unemployment and minimum wage jobs i realized id never be able to afford to buy my dream sword...
I started reading, researching, asking questions. Started making some small knives which you guys have all seen here on the forums. Using the money i made from making knives I purchased better equipment, did more research, asked more questions and learned new techniques. Under the help of Tinker Pearce, Brenno, and John Lundemo i worked out the kinks in my design and learned new ways of doing things...now after all that time, Today I swung my dream sword. It's finally done...I did what to me seemed like the impossible. I'm so proud..Many of you have followed my constant updates and photo bombs, some of you have enjoyed it, some of you may have been annoyed by it But this is the Finale...Shes done. So now I reveal...
Fjäll Skerandi at 100% Completion!
The name loosely translates to Mountain Cleaver, a name me and a friend came up with while joking about the swords gigantic size.
I guess I'll start out with the Basic specs
Blade Material: 1084 High Carbon Steel
Heat Treat: Blade was professionally heat treated to approximately 52HRC
Blade Length:34.5 inches
Blade Width: 2.5in at shoulder, 2in at top
Blade Thickness: 1/4in
Grip Length: 10.5 inches
Overall Length: 47 Inches
Weight: id say around 6 lbs
POB: between 5 and 6 inches from guard
Special thanks to Jonathan Sarge, Yeshua Sword, Tinker Pearce, John Lundemo, and Brendan Olszowy. Without you guys I'd never have made it through this Monster of a Project. Mad Respect for the Lot of you
Picture time.....there's lots of em
