I don't swing by this subforum often, but I'm glad I did. Forgot all about Sino, and here I am drooling at their photos. Might have to nab something from them once I get a few other things knocked out...
Their Tang dao is really nice, but I rather like the Han dao. Probably getting myself a Niu Wei, though. :?
No wonder I don't come here often, it's bad for my wallet.

What do you think of this one? sbgswordforum.proboards.com/thread/8395OP bought it through Ronin, But I am quite certain the source was Zhi Sword. They have it in their catalogue for a long, long time now and I searched myself silly to find it somewhere else. I think it sold last year for about $500. OP says Tachi, I say Tang, same thing as far as I can see. I wanted it from the first time looking at it. The fittings are in the Tang court taste and really ornate. The Tang got them from Sassanid Persia. And the Sassanid got them from the Parthians. Brass casts and quite well done as far as I can see. All the little domes you see in cassettes, for instance in the hangers, are the places where precious stones would have been inlaid. Here they skipped that, but the package still has me drooling. Clean the fittings, silverplate them and dunk them in Liver of Sulphur, polish...That was my idea. Edit: The fittings are sold seperately for a reasonable price too, since about 2 years now. Got the company website somewhere in my bookmarks. Zhi Sword would not sell them to me at the time. Edit: Here it is: 2011.zhisword.com/index.php?main ... bhb5iidnu3

JinShi and Sinosword also produce what you are looking for and for a good price. Jinshi has been with SBG for a good while and Sinosword is dedicated to impressing SBG members.

That's Zhou Zheng Wu's Chinese website. Otherwise known as Chris Zhou of Zheng Wu Forge. He's a pretty well known smith in China. Hell yeah, I'd say its reputable but it'll sure as hell break the bank. More info on Chris Zhou. www.zhengwu-swords.com/about-zhou-zhengwu

This is the Chinese official website of sword maker Zhou Zhengwu, probably the best quality you can find. They don't deal with foreign buyers because they only sell in China. you can check out this site www.zhengwu-swords.comThere are less products on this site, but I think you can request customizing your sword.

I would not go for the Kult of Athena ones. They are source from Jiang-shi Swords, has bad reputation on Chinese forums for practical cutting. They primarily supply swords for the Chinese movie industry and home decor, so not really functional swords.

Did you end up order the sword from them? I see they have fair reputation for Japanese swords, but I don't know about Chinese once. I quite enticed by their options and the special discounted swords they put up once in a while.

I have not yet. Remember though, katana come from tang dynasty dao historically. They're made virtually the same way.
