Finally got around to putting together a cutting video. First one I ever did so, it is what it is. Oh and I want to kill that cricket in the garage, that's for sure, you'll hear it. Sword is super solid as evident by the "bell sound" you can hear. I also purposely did some of those nipping cuts with just the tip. Spatulate tips cut well if just the tip is used.

Haha, yeah it packs a wallop. I wish I had some tatami mats, not that I know what I am doing but I have a feeling this broad blade would do well on a heavier target. Its good to know that after hacking apart a GSOW I was able to put together what seems to me to be a fully functional sword. That's the most important thing for me in doing this kind of thing.

Sadly I can't see the video? Photobucket opens, but there's no video inside.
Pity, I'd like to see the sword! I watched this conversion vith great interest.
Congratulations Bryan!

Made a second grip for this, the red one was quite thin and while I like the red one better overall...it was not as comfortable as this new one. I don't love the shape on the blue one, a bit chunky and I should have tapered it more to the pommel, but its super comfortable and the blue color (first blue grip) I am a major fan of.

Just watched the vid and well, that thing is a real man's sword Great job!! I too preferred the red grip... like you said, with a bit more taper towards the pommel, the new one would look a lot better.

Thanks all. Chenessfan, no question more taper on the grip to the pommel is key here. Maybe I will redo it in the future. I have the red grip as well so I can (and probably will at some point) switch back because I am insane basically and can't stop tinkering with, buying, selling and trading swords. I keep it hex nut b/c I know I will at some point mess with it again. I don't know why I even have a collections page b/c it seems to change constantly. In regards to the cutting. I don't have a lot of experience cutting (seen some of your vids - you are VERY good), I rarely do it, but this sword seems to be a good cutter in this shorter configuration. It certainly hits hard.
I lusted after an Albion Bayeux for a long time, never bought one..this one is sort of my fix for that style of sword - wide blade, little taper, 30-31" blade, cruciform hilt.

I certainly hear you on the "insane" part. I can also never leave my swords (and other stuff for that matter) alone, I always come back to tinker with them My gf thinks I'm nuts: "you just finished that, why would you go back and tear the grip down?" Anyway, that sword sure seems to be a good cutter and you don't look so bad yourself Good cutting. No get yourself some beach mats or tatami and show us how that beast performs against that!
