I'm actually still looking for info on this one. Was told it was a Del Tin sold through MRL back in the early 90's, but I contacted Del Tel and they said it isn't one of theirs. Um...how do I post pics?

Time for some updated shots of my sword horde. Left to Right: Windlass Damascus Viking / Darksword Five Lobe Viking / Windlass Leuterit / Hanwei Tinker 9th Century Viking / Hanwei Cawood / Albion SL Vinland / Albion SL Clontarf / Del Tin 10th Century Viking. I'm gonna need a bigger table.

Nice collection! Very familiar with the majority of them. Thank you William. It's very much an entry-level collection at this point. I'm sure most folks here have owned at least several of these at one time or another.

Hey gents, i need some help/expertise from our "oldtimers": i grabbed this thing ULTRA cheap and it APPEARS to by one of DelTins viking models... but it has no makers mark. Now i know that DelTin was around for some time; and they used a different steel earlier in the 90ies. Does anybody know if those older models had a makers mark? Or is this just good-looking rip-off? Overall fit&finish is good, blade quite flexible and hard, grip real leather and peened.

Blade definitely looks like made by Del Tin. If it has no makers mark it might be that it was shortened from the tang side? How long is the blade?

Also, shine a light down the fuller under the guard. On occasion Del Tin marks are really low on the blade and end up under the hilt furniture.

Looks like a Del Tin to me. Sometimes as was already stated, the makers mark is right at the guard or maybe slightly under it.
Another possibility is Del Tin and MRL were in business together at one time. They eventually broke off the arrangement but MRL continued some models using their own blades.

This looks like either the Del Tin/MRL composite or a full MRL piece. Immediately after MRL broke off from selling Del Tin pieces they copied (almost exactly) a number of Del Tin pieces. In many cases never changing the name it went by previously.
The reason I don't think this is a full Del Tin is the grip. Del Tins had comfortable oval grips, MRLs were more squared with the edges rounded off, very similar to this one.
If it is a composite, the Del Tin logo should be on the blade either on the ricasso or under the guard. MRL should also be stamped on the guard facing the blade.

I have had a couple of those old MRL Viking swords and they were beasts but so were/are many Del Tin Vikings. I passed them along as they were too heavy but solid swords.

Man, cant believe this thread hasnt had a post since september. I just ordered a Suontaka sword from MR. Deal of the day combined with the discount code knocked about 100 bucks off of even KOA's price. Couldnt resist. I also own the Stiklestad sword i got from another Deal of the day. Few more DOTD's like these and ill have a full Viking collection.
