Rittersteel make good swords though they are generally quite heavy but they are a solid blade and a good light cutter. The lion crest is a great choice

While you could do worse than rittersteel, the swords haven't gotten many good reviews and I sugest staying away from them.
As someone on myarmoury said,(paraphrasing) the first test cut doesn't matter. It's the accuracy/speed of the second one that makes or breaks a good sword.

That may be true but I have handled the rittersteel swords and I find them to be quite a good weapon personally, they have a lot of heft to them but they are aesthetically pleasing and as I said a good light cutter. You can't abuse them very much but water bottles and things should be fine.
How much are you looking to spend and what do you want the weapon for?

You've got a leg up on me then.
I'm only going from what I've heard.
But I feel you could do much better at the same price.

Oh of course you could, but if someone is in love with a sword better to give them good news about the sword than try to make them buy something else right? That is why I forked out hard earned for my custom knife from Bren because I love it and no one else could make me see otherwise. If your heart is set on the rittersteel go for it, it is a good light duty blade.

Well put, and I agree.
However, I'd still push for a better company.

Yeah I would too,
How much are you looking to spend leo? If you tell us that we could probably point you in another direction that will be even more satisfying. I would suggest a gen 2 from AoV with the new grips as they are extreme hotness and gen 2 are known for being rock solid performers.

I would suggest something from gen 2 if you are looking to spend that much, seriously if you want a shorter blade go for the gen 2 maintz or wasp waiste. If you want a beautiful medieval sword I would suggest a gen 2 with the custom grip, probably one of the templar swords as they are gorgeous. Or if you don't want a sharp sword I would suggest a darksword armory.

Leo, welcome to the forums. I have a Rittersteel gladius and it's a chucky beast and didn't come sharp enough to cut, I haven't tryed to do any cutting with it. It's a unique sword tho I don't think it'd be a good cutter, too bulky. I also have a Rittersteel full tang katana. After sharpening it some more I can cut with it tho it isn't elegant like a regular katana, still I find it fun to use. I liken it to handling like a truck compared to a regular katana handling like a sports car, but sometimes you need a truck and it is very durable. I have a Valiant armoury viking sword and it too is bulky and the fittings are too large for my taste. After sharpening some more I did some cutting with it today tho it is clucky. These are my experiences with the brands you mentioned.

I've handled them. Too thick and heavy. For the money you can do better.

I have the older model gen2 12th century, it's a beast of a sword and one hell of a cutter. I like it.

Go with one of the gen 2 templar swords from arms of valor with the custom wrapped handle, you can't go wrong.
