Hi, was just curious if anyone on here owns a Busse knife and if they are worth money. I have been looking at the Team Gemini light brigade one in particular but $400 with nylon sheath and shipping is kinda steep. but I really luv the look of it and how it's made. www.bussecombat.com/knives/index.shtmlI have checked out the knive forums but I like this one and most sword owners have great Taste in knives as well Any comments appreciated. Thx

I don't own a Busse, but from what I have heard yes they are worth the price. I would love to own one, but I don't have the $ to spend on one. Busse knives are quite well regarded by knife appreciators.

I have one... Team Gemini Light Brigade... It's heavy, big, and sharp as hell... Heck, it can cut paper better than all my swords! (of course, it has 2nd bevel, unlike swords who has more apple seed edge). It's strong and durable... I used it to cut a big Durian and it did it without much effort. The coating was durable as well... not a single scratch on it after contact with harsh skin of durian! So in term of knives... Busse is good stuff... BUT I think it's way too expensive... However... there are a very active 2nd hand markets for Busse knives and for some weird reason the prices actually appreciate over time! Go figure! So even though it's expensive, you might be able to resell it again with no loss or even small profit (usually best to wait until busse discontinue the model you have... which I believe would happen soon with TGLB). There are a very strong busse followers (hogs cult) that would buy any knives with Busse stamp on them. I have couple pics I took a while ago... If you need pics at certain part / angle, just let me know. I will have them posted asap.

I hear ya I'm going to sell a few things to get one but it will be worth it. I'm starting to become a knife collector myself never thought that Would happen. Thx junon for the pics just reaffirms my need for one of these I luv that tanker grey costing really looks unique. I'm going to get that with the black paper handles I think. I suppose you can't go wrong either way with it. I looked high and low can't find a used one anywhere I guess that is good sign of there value like you said. My collection could use some more knives anyways.

The best place for info and second hand Busse's: www.bladeforums.com/forums/forum ... bat-Knives I've got a couple Scrapyards, and about to make the jump to Busse for the TGLB as well (by selling everything else!) .

Busse is good... but I can't see myself buying another busse knives in the future... The price just too damn expensive!
Also since I'm located overseas, I can't easily sell the knife (the shipping probably would make it prohibitive to any potential buyers in US - which happens to be where the market is thriving for Busse).
I do, however... would consider buying a Busse Kukri (Killa Zilla - either version would be fine... TTKZ or KZII) if that's available with a good price... Even though I probably prefer an (used) Albion if I have additional $800 to spend for sharpies...

One more thought: INFI is not stain-less steel, and would rust pretty easily on humid environment (like my place)... It would require some maintenance (oiling - or RenWax) just like the old carbon steel; if not, you would see a patina and some rust developed pretty quick on non-coated area (which make me wonder about the competition finish you can order from Busse; it certainly looks good, but would require more oiling on regular basis). Here is some (light) rust developed on BUSSE letter: It's worse on bottom left corner of the B: 5 minutes session with MetalGlo and some clean cloth: PS: Black paper micarta is not black, actually... it's more of gray but would become darker and darker after getting sweat & water on it... Some people actually put a black shoe polish to make it permanent!

I have a Busse Team Gemini Light Brigade (currently in the shop having a Competition finish put on it) and imho yes Busse's are worth it if you find a model you like. I never really had a chance to use mine yet but when you hold the knife in hand it just feels like quality. Plus the lifetime warranty is a big plus. On the rare occasion a Busse knife does fail, I have never seen or heard of them refusing to make things right and replace the knife even if it is the users fault.

I'll definitely get some pics of it once it's back in my hands. It originally had a Tanker grey finish but after seeing so many pics of the comp finish, I had to send it in and have it stripped.

The TGLB is the nicest knife I've ever owned and I'm going nuts waiting for it to get back to me. I'm hoping to get enough money secured to order a 2nd one before they disappear but I'm also wanting a katana to. Oh decisions decisions .
An original Team Gemini is my most wanted knife atm followed by an NMSFNO.
Btw sweet knives BIGGORILLAINK. I've been wanting to get a Swamp Rat RMD myself for quite awhile now.

That is a unreal prob one of the nicer knives I've seen. I luv that it's a bigger better version of the Swamp rat Rodent 6. I finally got the change I'm ordering one tomorrow. I'm thinking tanker grey and blue and Black handles so hard to decide. But I know after seeing yours it's a must have

Mine use to have a Tanker finish and the Tanker is great but I love the Comp finish and don't regret switching to it one bit. Regardless of what finish you go with, I'm certain you'll love your TGLB. It's my favorite knife in my collection and if by some chance you don't end up liking it, you'll most likely recoup your money.

Hi Sharp Knives 86! Sexy knife you got there... by any chance, can you take a pics where the BUSSE word is (near the hilt)? I'm curious whether the comp finish would smooth that out or not... As you can see in my previous post, I got some rust(?) on that area before... Also, since INFI is not stainless, do you know if comp finish would attract rust or not? It won't be an issue for us (since we are carbon steel lover! ) and are accustomed to sword maintenance... but would be interested to know about rust resistance of INFI...

Hey junon.
The logo actually appears to be laser etched on which is strange since the one I sent in with the Tanker finish, the logo was engraved/stamped into the steel. I'm thinking this may not be the same knife I sent in, though I'm not complaining at all. I have seen pics of a few Comp finished TG's where there was very light surface rust but if you're familiar with carbon steel blades, it shouldn't be a problem. INFI is not stainless as you know but it is said to be much more rust resistant than your standard carbon steels i.e. 1050, 1095, 5160 etc.
I'll try to borrow a camera in the next day or so to get some better pics including close ups of the logo.

What's that TrailMaster, a Carbon V or SK5 steel knife?
Good pick on that one, I whomp the stuffing out of mine on a regular basis.
Trivia note-
Cold Steels Carbon V is actually an equivalent of the 1095 CroVan used in the Becker line of knives. Get a Becker, they are tougher than nails.

The TM is SK-5 which to my understanding is the equivalent of 1085.
A Becker BK-2 is actually high on my list of knives I want to get.
