not so bad for the price with shipping, just had an answer via facebook and it seems there is some problems since i didn't recieve his reply via email (good thing i have facebook ) he said that for The rebel dao (zhao dan dao) shipped to canada it costs 450 NZD (which is roughly 368 CAD ), the zhan ma dao is less expensive but the shipping is higher because it is an oversized item. overall the price is not bad but i'll wait a little to save so i won't have a bad surprise (customs and stuff) that kill my budget and push me to ask someone a favor (to pay the rest until i have the money to repay him/her  )

Cool, I'm glad that you were able to finally connect with them. I just sent Evan another message over Facebook in case a similar thing happened with an email to me. That's not a bad price overall, I'm still wondering how the price of their jians compare with their daos. Shipping to me might be less because the weight of the sword I'm looking at is less.

are you sure it is welded? i mean i saw something on their facebook page about the ring pommel on a dadao and wanted to post it here's a close-up of the tang if it is welded somewhere, it would be on one side of the pommel if all ring pommels are made the same. i can understand why it would be welded if it is made that way.

what can you tell me about the feel and balance of the zhao dan dao? this sword is the most tempting for me at the moment and i would like to have some insight on it before taking the plunge.
thanks, Étienne.

From what I could see on my Zhan Dan dao, there is welding marks where the ring pommel meets the tang. Not sure about their other models as I don't have any experience with them. It doesn't really matter though as it's not a welded tang, it's a welded pommel; much like peening.
The Zhan Dan Dao is tip heavy as with most dao's, it can be used single handed but I personally can't maintain the momentum for extended period of time 'no more than 15min'. To compare, the dan dao is much more heavier than my ATrim Type XIIa.2 or any of my Japanese pieces; It's by far the heaviest sword in my collection.
