Heh, these look kind of like the infamously whip-tastic Windlass Arbedo. Though I'm going to assume that these are actually done right!

Yes. Everybody uses sharp swords, and then they eat bears afterwards. Come on, man . Even training with blunt Albions doesn't happen everyday, but obviously it does from time to time. Sharp ones - unlikely, not that I've heard of. Cheers.

My group and myself have first hand experience with that. It's a fact man. The Hanwei's get chewed to nothing rather fast by both the Albion's and the A&A's. The A&A's are the only blunts that don't get wrecked against the Albions, but the hex nuts tend to back out fast and they need to be tightened after every session. But yeah, the Hanwei's only do good against each other. They happen to eat Windlass swords though.

Thin, that’s not what I wanted to hear, the flex with my Crecy is about as much as I like. Might be best to wait until it is actually released and the stats are available. Now back to my looking into the Albion Viceroy, similar to the proportions of my Crecy but with a bit more heft and stiffness, I’ll see if my wife will let me have this one

Check Again!I'm excited to see Peter finally making progress on these swords (There's another XVIIIc in the background) I know they went through at least three redesigns so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the third times the charm.

Well this is out of the blue great to see them coming along. Given there at this point I would assume that 2013 will be the year. Would love to know how thick they are going to be at the ricasso?

For clarification, when I refer to Hanwei it's the Hanwei/Tinker line I'm referring to. The standard Hanwei line seem to be as soft as Windlass. Don't know why this is as their made in the same forge but whatever.

I wouldn't worry. Albion's thin isn't a Windlass thin. Even the swords that should flex a great deal aren't whippy or overly flexible. I was surprised to see how an Albion X was fairly stiff when compared to the Windlass classic medieval, and that's my favorite windlass. It flexes just enough to get the job done for it's type. I suspect that the XVIIIc's will be rather stiff, especially towards the tip.

Peter said as much in his comments on the last picture (the one where he's holding the whole thing-- that's one big sucker!); that it would be a good sword against an opponent in armour given that apparently it's actually quite stiff, just don't half-sword it as it's quite sharp.
Looking forward to seeing it with grip... just wish it wasn't so far out of my price range! This might be the one that bumps the Munich from my #1 Favorite Albion spot...

I have to admit that I’m a little reinspired by this sword and am really looking forward to the finished product to be available. Think I’ve already decided I’m getting one but what to see all the stats first

So, does anyone know when this sword will be available for order yet?

Technically it's available now for pre-order. I'd usually say wait till it hits the market because we cold be looking at a few months more before the parts come back from the foundry and their ready to run the blades but it really depends on how may they intend to make. If it's a run of 100 I'd pre-order as then last time I didn't I missed out. Usually runs of 500 or more won't sell out very fast.

Mike is right. Albion has quite a few swords that were 100-500-1000 runs and most are still for sale years later.

Found this on the Albion facebook page. Seems Peter already addressed a poster with a similar concern.......
So it's a thin cutting section but still retains the XVIII stiffness.

Hi Guys, I’ve been thinking a lot about the new upcoming Principe but have been struggling with the dimensions as to whether I will like it or not, so I decided to make my own I had a bit of free time today so I spent the afternoon in my shed and this is the result; Overall Length: 1,190mm (15mm longer than it should be) Blade Length: 890mm (10mm longer than it should be) Guard Length: 262mm Grip length: 200m (10mm shorter than it should be) Blade Width: 79mm Weight: 621g POB: 180mm from guard Wood: Vic ash Overall I’m happy with the result, I was a bit off with a few measurements, the extra 10mm on the blade was on purpose, allowance for further rounding off the tip for the kids, but I just stuffed up the measurements on the grip / pommel, speaking of which, the pommel didn’t turn out as expected so some further sanding might be happening, then a few coats of linseed oil. In hand its not as big as I was expecting, in a good way, It’s a lot wider than my Crecy but I really like it, a lot. Once they have finally produced one and I can ask then about the blade stiffness my order will be going in

Looks good Paul.
Thought I would also mention that Albion is running much longer than their normal 3-month turn around. I ordered a Squire Line 15th Century and Burgundian (Buy 6 & get the 7th free) back in June and have not received them yet. The 15th Cen was mailed in Nov but Albion sends them to me as cheaply as possible which means it can sometimes take 2-months. If they would send priority mail, would normally take 2-weeks.
