I finished the scabbard for my zs short sword. It is styled to match the zs knife which you can see in this thread on page 1. Of note is the blade contour I followed at the mouth of the scabbard - I like that feature . I plan to make a baldric which will allow back carry with the blade handle at my shoulder or my hip, so the snap will provide a bit of extra confidence in this case. I had a go at antiqued finish on this piece. While wrapping the leather I was not especially careful and allowed the leather to get marked up and such.I also purposefully darkened the edges of the risers across the front to accentuate those lines. When applying a finish I started with watered down 'canyon tan' ecoflo dye, then the full strength of same, then 'all in one acorn brown' (with drying time in between each application of course). I really like the all in one stuff - it gets used up fast compared to just dye but it is easy to apply and buff to nice finish. I will still give this a rub of beeswax/oil mix.

I try to fit in time whenever I can - but usually I end up working in the midnight hours on the weekend when the rest of the house is sleeping...

Couple of updates to add to the list Yesterday I gave this knife a new grip: Recently bought a knife from forum member Moredhel - it had a rattan wrap for the grip. I've replaced the grip using spalted hackberry wood scales which are pinned and epoxied in place. Also gave it a little lanyard hole. I had done file work on the spine but ended up grinding it off (mostly) in favour of the grip shape I wanted. Next for this knife will be a leather sheath, then a resharpening. --I was all set this afternoon to make the leather sheath for the knife above, but then my daughter Charlotte asked Mommy to knit her a purse... and I decided to try my hand at making her a leather purse as well. (With luck I'll get the sheath made tomorrow, along with a new bowl turned on my lathe). This was made off the cuff; drew up the pattern on the spot and just sort of went at it. Now, this little "purse" would also easily work as a "satchel" which is of course what us fellows would call it if we were wearing one . It's 6.5" across the bottom, and the strap is 18" long, which is just right for my little girl to wear on her shoulder. The strap is attached with snaps so that I could easily thread/loop it around my belt a couple of times to cinch it up against my waist if I wanted to.

Thank you everyone -I'll have to start another character in Skyrim to get the Riften shield- went Imperial last time and killed all the Riften guards off.

I look at that thing see I have a long ways to go forging spear heads. Know it really accurate to a historical one, but still not where I want to be. One of these days I'll get back to forging spear heads and try to improve. Right now I still have a lot langsax to get forged off the list.

Chris, That spear is sexy as hell, i love the lines of the shovel handle on there. I might have to do that with my Hanwei viking spears. Nice job on Fallens work too.
Lyndle, your stuff is showing much more refinement than when you first started. I know there was a huge difference between my first ball hawk and the kller set of war crows you made me.
We should get a thread started for what some of us have done with Mr.Driggers work

Thanks guys I can't overstate how much fun it is to use! I have a lot of steel from Fallen shown off in this thread already and no prob adding it to a thread all about customizing his wares.
