Introduction
Hello and welcome to my revieuw of the black prince hand and a half sword done by Generation II.
Tough i have this sword now for a few years, might as well do a revieuw about it
This sword is truly a beater, this is a beast of a sword I have kinda abused this sword alot and it's still in good condition, altough here and there i got some scratches on the sword and some rustspots.
Statistics
I have taken these from other revieuws and i measured the sword myself so these are kinda spot on.
Steel: Made out of 5160 Spring Steel
Blade Lengt: the blade it's self is about 18,5 cm
Guard: is about 19,5 cm
POB:is very close to the guard, about 10,5 cm from the guard
Grip: is about 18,5 cm
Weight: 3lbs 4oz
Historical Overvieuw
Now this sword should be a copy of the sword from Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Prince of Aquitaine or simply called the Black Prince.
He was an exceptional military leader, and his victories over the French at the Battles of Crécy and Poitiers made him very popular during his lifetime. In 1348 he became the first Knight of the Garter, of whose Order he was one of the founders.
The origins of the name are uncertain, though many theories have been proposed. These fall under two main heads:
that it is derived from Edward's black shield, and/or his black armour.
that it is derived from Edward's brutal reputation, particularly towards the French in Aquitaine
Full Disclosure
I bought this sword way back( a few years ago, don't remember it ) for about 270 euro from a local Belgium dealer.
This sword was my first Medieval Hand and a half sword and is a Oakeshott Type XV Sword.
Initial Impressions
Euhm, wel, the first time i handled this sword was how light it felt, you can swing this sword pefectly one-handed,but it come's alive if you wield it with both of youre hands,so you can deliver powerfull cuts and stabs in the armour or flesh:p
The only thing was that the sword was rather dull when i recieved it,now i put it on some waterstones on it,it's nicely sharp:)
Here are some pictures of the sword, enjoy it
The pommel: yeah,i got a soft spot for swords with a cross on the pommel:)
The grip: very comfy grip
The deadly point:
The cool Guard:
Here you see the sword and scabbard:
Here you see my Beauty and the Beast together
TestCutting
I have no picture's taken of it but i can tell you this, the black prince from G2 is an awesome piece,i like it alot,i have cut many objects with it and it is a fun sword to wield,i abused ths sword alot and it is still in one piece, tough, mind the scratches on it and here and there some rust.
But 2 liters coke bottle's or waterbottle's are easy to euhm "terminate" with this baby
Conclusions
Again,i am happy with this sword,a joy to wield,i can recommend this sword for anybody out there who is looking for a fine hand and a half sword.
Pro's:
*A very light sword for it's seize
*Very comfy to swing since the pob is close to the guard
*the price,i bought this sword for 270 euro
*It's a very durable blade,i abused it alot
Con's:
*The sword arrived dull, but i fixed that with my waterstones
*The scabbard,it's pretty basic,so if you want to wear this sword you gonna need a belt somewhere so that will ad up in to the cost.
I hoped you all like my revieuw of the black prince sword from G2
Now gimme me some Karma!
