I shoot 2 fingers under on my recurve, with a deerskin glove of course.
I walk the string depending on the distance I'm shooting, generally at 20yrds I have a 2 finger gap between my fingers and the nock. This way I can line the tip of the arrow with the gold at know it's going to hit there assuming everything is anchored properly.
At 30yrds I move my fingers closer to the knock, and line up with the tip with the gold once more.
Etc...
My 'True' distance (Which is one finger above on below the nock) is just below 50yrds, so that the tip of the arrow will hit the gold if my fingers are in that position.
P.S I have each distance marked on the string so I know where to place my fingers in correspondence to the distance I want

I haven't tried stringwalking.. yet. I like the set up you describe with marks on your string- it's like the inverse of a pin sight.

Precisely, I only do that because I came from shooting a compound before a recurve Old habits die hard
