FYI, I wasn't trying to put Marc in a corner... ...he's been very helpful to me at SFI and now here. I'm saying Peter Johnsson, while deservingly respected as a designer, can no more source his Viking grip advice to historical documentation than I can. In fact, Peter never actually claimed his advice was based upon historical documents. I've tried the old handshake/hammer thing over the years, and neither of them solved the wrist-impact problem. Marc -- If you want (or not), try what I mentioned and see it how feels.

... The entire point of what he was saying was that since the grip is the correct size, the debate becomes a non-issue. Ie, correct dimensions allow for intuitive correct grip.

You're right. I wasn't challenging that point at all. P.S.: I do like Rob Miller's work. It's been a few years since I communicated with him. Coincidentally, we had discussed a commission for a Viking style sword.

Amazing sword, Marc. An absolutely incredible gift from your wife...Rob's work looks fantastic. ...and, you know, I guess your review wasn't too shabby, either.

Marc, what a great gift, it is always good to get a suprise. This is a serious looking sword, between you and Bill Swiger's new one I'm getting a real case of viking fever.

The figure in the wooden grip is absolutely fabulous. The whole piece is really great looking, but that grip is something else.

Thanks Marc. Both for the review and the motivation to finally order one from Rob. I am getting the Suontaka, one that I have long wanted and now I finally got around to ordering.

Hey Wyndel, I too ordered the Suontaka, Marks review kinda pushed me over the edge, this will be my first 1 handed viking sword, should be here by Christmas.

I am guilty as well. Suontaka with regular steel blade coming up on his order list sometime soon. Should have gotten the Albion before it sold out but up until about 2-years ago, I considered them too expensive for production swords until I bought a couple of preowned ones and then I was enlightened
