Johnwalter, how thick are they? did they shrink in the wash? Would you reccomend me getting the strap extensions?

They don't shrink in washer or in dryer - big point against my cotton one who's not going into the dryer. I don't have time to iron the folds but I don't need it - they keep their form. Hakama and iaito-gi are medium thick, lets say a karate-gi kind of thickness. Over all is a good package for a day-by-day training. I would recommend to get a stretch obi ( www.yamatobudogu.com/Stretch_Iai ... iruobi.htm) PS e-bogu has a whole package hakama+iaido-gi+bokken+shinai. You might consider it as well www.e-bogu.com/Navy_Keikogi_Tetr ... ombo8-.htm

That package looks great, except it doesn't come with an obi!

No it will not shrink.Though I do handwash and hang dry mine. The hakama is pretty thick and durable yet stll breathes pretty well. The gi is not as thick. Its rather light and comfortable.I went with the extensions. And there is really no need for an obi unless you just must have it or your teacher expects it.I dont use one.
P.S. you can safety pin your pleats before washing,it helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went with this set. www.e-bogu.com/Iaido_Gi_BLACK_Te ... -giset.htm I also got the black iai obi. I will probably pay a visit to a karate dojo nearby, just to buy an extra gi they have there. One thats white and I'll wear it underneath my keikogi. I'm gonna be outside in WI a lot doing kata, so I wanna stay warm!
