This is 3rd sword review, and I am a rank amateur. I received my Father's sword today. It came in a gift type box from Museum Replica's by way of Kult of Athena. I ordered it sharpened by KOA and they as usual an excellent job. Tis sword is HEAVY no doubt about it. The blade is carbon and steel and evenly shaped and straight. The fuller runs from the moose skull hilt to almost the blades point. The lettering is not etched but painted on I believe. The hilt and pommel are of the same metal-as of yet unknown...tin? with a bronze patina. The handle in 6.5 inches long and covered in a beautifully wrapped leather binding and then over wrapped with a second layer of leather cross-hatching. In the hand the sword feels secure. The POB is actually behind where the hilt meets the blade so it would be a negative number. The pommel seems to add a lot of weight as it is huge. Overall the setup feels very secure and no looseness developed whilst hacking up the shipping box and yelling like Arnie. The only flaw is that the moose skull points ever so slightly asymmetrically down the fuller, unnoticeable to some maybe but is tweaking my OCD ever so much. For the $250 I shelled out, I rate this as a decent price for a piece of replicated cinematic history-and a boyhood obsession. I cannot envision the Albion being worth over ten times the price of this. I am not a sword connoisseur, but an enjoyer of swords. A good watch will cost about $80 and at the end of the day it tells time. A Rolex costs $8,800 and at the end of the day...well it tells time as well. I own the latter...this is my sickness, but I love that damn watch. The Albion may be somebody's too.
