Okay for samurai armor, the clothing worn under the armor can't be substituted with other clothing? Like the pants and the shirt...... And is the display box kind of necessarily needed and recommended? I think that might be a yes.... No?

You can substitute the shirt easily enough, but the hakama pants are somewhat distinctive, specially how they blouse out over the shin guards. The shirt and pants are easy enough to obtain if you're willing to get the cheap product, however, so I wouldn't sweat too much about it.
As for the display box, it's up to you. It's nice to have a specific display for your armour, but if you just hang it up in the corner, that might work. It's really a matter of your personal taste and how you want to set things up. Some people like to use department-store mannequins in their displays; see Dave Kelly's collection for an example.
