Ricky, You are, no doubt, and excellent cutter. You have very nice skills. Much better on tatami omote than me these days. And i know you want to promote your swords, but please limit it to the M&V section . However in promoting your blades i don't think it is wise to try to insinuate that other blades just can't do what yours can, and somehow aren't as dangerous. That is a bad message to be sending. All swords are dangerous. By no means am i saying a beginner should have your swords above all others, but certainly not because they are somehow more dangerous than others. Personally, i believe that beginners need a sword that shows attention to detail in all areas , including fittings , maki, tsuka-ho etc. Why? Because beginners don't know enough to catch dangerous issues that slip through the cracks on blades with poor mounts. This to me presents more danger than sharpness... But, to speak to your point, there are sharp swords in every brand , and ALL swords deserve extreme caution, not just yours... Check out what other peoples blades can do.... Not sure of the sword used here... but appears to be traditional geometry... This one is a MAS This sword is a lowly Hanwei Raptor So Ricky, while you are definitely an awesome cutter, and your swords are no doubt sharp... you can see that there are swords across the spectrum that are very good cutter, very sharp , and very dangerous. No sword should be labeled as "safe". BTW , the two Ronin katana I have handeled were quite nimble.

Yes Ricky, I have read it i know what evryone is cutting, and what they are cutting with. That's not the point. The point is that all of the swords from the $200 Raptor to the $1200 MAS are sharp . Are yours sharper? Maybe . Again not the issue... The issue is this : maybe you don't mean that the way it comes across, but as staff here it is my concern to make sure that things like this aren't misinterpreted. Your swords may well be the sharpest sword on the planet... I don't know and don't care. I do not want some beginner thinking "hey, this M&V said ALL OTHER swords but his are safe for beginners and NO swords but his have ever cut him" and as a result be careless and hurt themselves. THAT is my point. Again , maybe you are misunderstood ... but the bulk of your posts say "look what my swords can do" and that is very impressive, but again Ricky... YOU are also a very good cutter, despite your protestations that you aren't. You claim that you are often misunderstood , and taken as insulting or arrogant , because English is your second language ( I salute you !!! Your English is much better than my Mandarin ) I want to make sure you are not misunderstood here. So when you say : Please forgive my need to clarify... I want there to be NO dangerous misunderstandings. About Ronin... I'll admit, i gave up cutting mats long ago.... they are WAY too expensive and i have unlimited free bamboo... so I do not trick cut (nor care to) , but I didn't find Ronin to be just for banging around. The two I handled were both 2.67 lbs. with a motokasane of 7mm and COG of 5 inches. I can't compare this to your blades, because you don't list those stats... but IMHO that is a pretty nimble Kat... At any rate Ricky, I'm not here to bash your swords... you may have even seen me post in a thread saying the special attention you give the edges MAY set them apart. I am simply trying to make sure there are NO misunderstandings... People... PLEASE , please , please .... be careful with your swords. Back in 2005 Don Rice ran his Last Legend katana clear through his forearm on noto. The doctors said it was a good thing it was so razor sharp, otherwise the damage would have been harder to repair. NOTE TO SQUEMISH .... DON'T LOOK !!!!! Entry wound: www.swordforum.com/forums/attach ... 1113428566 Exit wound: www.swordforum.com/forums/attach ... 1113434758 This accident happened to a trained iaidoka. Again , folks , please take care with ANY and ALL swords.

Recent I got a hugh gash on my thumb..... opening a can of sardine. Bleeding like a dying pig. No knife involved. True story! I have been in a war torned country for months, and the first action that result in the loss of my blood is caused by a bunch of dead fish. Needless to say, I was rather embarrassed.
Speaking of beginner katana. Other than recommending sturdy fittings and handle, I also recommend against poorly balance sword. There is more chance you can hurt yourself (or others) with a poorly balanced sword.

Seems I started a bit of an argument, but tons of awsome info - thanks  In addition to the sites on here, I'm thinking of maybe something like this: www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/45274016 ... splay.html It's about $300. I hear Damascus steel is something to be cautious of, but otherwise, would that be good for the money?

Noone can tell you how to spend your money, but no way I'd spend $300 on that ... not a chance. If you are willing to go a bit more than $300 , this is just a silly deal www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... Mat+Katana But by the .za , maybe you are in South Africa? In that case your choices may be limited due to shipping costs.

Yeah, unfortunately. I don't of any place here that actually sells good swords, but to order from overseas will probably cost as much for shipping as for the sword itself... :/
