Piggy Backing on original review... Please keep in mind that I am a noobie when it comes to swords. The only other one I have is a Kriegschwert. Measurements of my Danish Two-Hander: Overall length – 49” Blade – 38.5” (measured from top of guard to tip.) Handle – 10.5” (top of guard to end.) The blade at its widest is 1 5/8” It came packaged well and showed no damage from shipping. The only two “flaws” are the following: More gap on one side then the other. (maybe that is normal, remember, I’m a noob.) Small mark in fuller. Here are some other pictures for your viewing pleasure: The Kriegschwert and the Danish Two-Hander. I did cut with it this morning. (First cut ever for the sword and me.) It sliced right through the milk jug. Thrusting at it, the blade went though it like it was butter. I found the grip to be very comfortable. I prefer the more rounded grip to the boxer grip of the Kreigschwert. Although it is a very long sword, I found it was a very easy sword to maneuver for my height (5'2").

Fit and finish is off a tad. But if it handles comfortably and cuts well it's a fair deal and a very impressive looking sword. It's really teasing me. ( Since the Atrim XVIIIe is only a twinkle in Gus Trim's eye right now.....)

You could always get the Albion "Albion Sword" to fill the void of the XVIIIe. :lol:

me likey... wouldn't that gap make it more likely for the blade to rattle?

Mine doesnt have a gap like this one, but otherwise i'd say yours look good too. About the gap i'm not sure that this may lead to some structural integrity or rattling problems. But to make sure you could hammer it down a bit to close the gap, just put something between the hammer and the guard not to leave marks on it.

Just got mine in today and it handles so sweetly. It's the longest sword I currently own, and also nearly the most graceful for its type. It's feather weight and seems as sturdy as a tank. I cannot believe how well it handles, amazing. DSA has made HUGE leaps and bounds from a few years ago.

I was surprised too by it weight and how good it handles, as you say thats a huge improvement over what they used to make a couple of years ago. Of their recent production i've handled the kurgan and the danish, both are light and very well balanced, i would really like to see how fare the other models of the new production !

Not to be a party pooper, but... is this amazing lightness really a good thing? I mean, this is supposed to be a zweihander-type, isn't it? To me it seems like they rather made a very long longsword. ^^;
Oh well. I'd be interested in knowing the thickness of the blade if anyone has it. Also, any distal taper on this one?

Rather than a zweihander I think of it as an XVIIIe. Blade is 4.5 mm at the spine. It is a diamond shaped blade. There is almost no taper to within 6 inches of the point, accounting for a a slight blade bias, as the pob is just above the ricasso, at 5 inches above the guard. ricasso is 1.12 in wide. Blade is 1.75 in wide at base, 1 in at p of p. Would do pics and chart, but have worked last two weekends...

Sounds kinda slim to be honest. Oh well, if I did get one of these it would be for some kind of project blade anyway. Though, that's a low priority right now. Still, I'm happy for y'all who like it.

I got mine some time ago, sadly I haven't had any time to write my little piece on it, mainly because I have to juggle between school, work, and life. In any case, I love the thing. It's light, but looks very sturdy. As far as Enkidu's review is concerned, El has clearly read it, because the space for the first hand in my grip is as follows: (=) (immagine the "=" to be touching the ends of the parentheses), props to him for that. My guard has a slight discrepancy as far as spaces from the blade are concerned, much like the the second person who posted pics (sorry, I forgot your name), I must say though, it looked much bigger in the pics than in reality. In any case, the only con I have is the scabbard, because the slightest movement will make it rattle rancorously. It's looser than... well, I won't be finishing that one. Thanks to DSA for including the suspension cheat-sheet, but I must say, it brings wearing the sword "low on the hips" to a whole new level. I guess having the two belt things 2-3 in bigger (i.e. have the cut go 2-3 in further into the belt) would be perfect.
All in all though, I love this blade and I'd absolutely recommend it.

actually, one more thing I have to say. I do not know if this is a failure in communication or what not, because I ordered mine through the SBG store, but my sword is about as sharp as a 2x4... I ran my hand through both edges just now and it didn't even get scratched...
