It's because he's from, or at least in, Jersey, innit? I mean, it has to be. NO ONE HAS GIVEN OPFEROUS KARMA FOR THIS AWESOME LINK YET? (Dude, it's because you're in New Jersey.) Well you know what? I don't CARE if you're in New Jersey. Awesomeness like this deserves karma. Even in New Jersey!

Ach, this darned state! I blame it for all my life's troubles! It's that darned Snooki, isn't it! Nah, but thanks to you and Chenessfan (sent me one earlier) for the karma! Fendley does make some awesome stuff without being over the top about it and for great prices. I really love his burgundy micarta Scout. It's subtle stuff. One day I'm definitely going to order a Big Bear from him though

Exotic blade I think needs stabilized exotic wood...something like Ambiona, Goncalo Alves, Zebrawood, or even Olivewood

Seems like I'll be getting tan canvas micarta from Chuck who kindly and in full forum community spirit offered to send my some micarta. Now that leaves me with the other question... what kind of finish I should use on the spine. The blade's back from heat treat and I took the scale off completely, was too ugly. So I'm currently toying with the idea to cold blue the spine, like Brenno did on his kukri: sbgswordforum.proboards.com/inde ... 403&page=2 Now my question is: how durable would that finish be? It's in the lower half of the blade only so ideally it shouldn't see any cutting but I'm sure I'll be cutting too close sometimes too. I also thought about an antique finish like this: www.myarmoury.com/view.html?feat ... ique03.jpg What do you guys think? Would cold blue work or should I go with an antique finish/ something else?

If we were going for just looks, a combo cold blue-antique finish would look excellent. Other than that, I haven't got a clue.

Maybe antique first and then lightly cold blue over it? NO idea if that'd work... I really need to find someone who has done this before...
In regard to the handle colour, the lighter antique seems more fitting, cold blue would be awesome with dark micarta but tan calls for something else...

A quick heads up, the sword is finished except for the antiquing and the grip. Take a look at this: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5103&p=64765#p64765I made some slight modifications, a rounder and stronger tip and a wee bit smaller pommel. I think it's about 0.5" shorter than the original design. But overall, it's very close to the first drawing and handling wise it's sweet. Exactly what I wanted and it cuts like a demon. Easily one of my best cutting sword, out cuts the H/T great sword of war. Can't wait to make it all pretty with antiquing and micarta. Looks a bit boring right now but I tell you, it'll be stunning.

I'm currently experimenting with salt and vinegar, the initial results have been promising. Do you have a pic of a well done mustard patina?
