i bet you could make $$$ reworking swords to be good cutters...i know i dont own a single sword thats capable of making a silent cut, even if i do my part a silent cut is still impossible.i have a katana, a kodachi, a nodachi, and a viking sword and have never got a silent cut with any of them

Good edge geometry and alignment is key to a good cut. I have seen many people fail with cuts with good form due to poor edge geometry.
I think part of the problem is many people really don't know how to sharpen well and many production swords come with poorly done factory edge.
My suggestion would be for those who don't have decent sharpening skills, is get some knives and start prxticing on the smaller blades of knives. Lean how to create a true convex edge. Learn the muscle memory of how to grind the edge to the geometry you want. Once you get decent with the knives move to your sword. The skills do transfer.

Saito, you should definitely give Dadao a try once your financial situation is better. He sharpens like crazy and knows exactly how to put that good edge on your sword.

If you have a business and a service to sell (sharpening), then you're allowed to ask to be on the vendor list. I don't see anything wrong with you posting a how-to video for sharpening; TomK has done the same. The difference is he doesn't really 'sell' his service as such; it's more like people know he does it, so they ask him to. You could take the same approach if you wanted as far as your sharpening service goes. It's up to you, of course...

Dadao,
If you're having this much forum drama at the moment, perhaps you would be best served by stepping away and taking a day or two away from the forum. While I understand that to some your videos may seem like advertising, if you are only demonstrating things like your cutting technique or the way you sharpen blades, I don't see that as advertising. Think about it and maybe ask people to specifically point out what parts of your videos seem like "advertising". Perhaps you're saying things like "this is what you can do with a sword that I have sharpened", for example, thus implying that if people send you swords for sharpening, they will have similar performance when I think we all should know that it's not just about how sharp the blade is.
As for your issues with other members of this board, if you feel that you are being followed from thread to thread by certain members, then PM a moderator. The staff here exists to preserve harmony on the board, and if that means working out conflicts between members, then they'll help. Marc saw with your videos what in his opinion was something that wasn't allowed by board rules; was he right? I don't know, I can't hear the audio in your videos (I'm deaf) and I haven't watched that many of them.
I understand that your business is only getting started, but I know that you've sent out at least one product (that tanto Tom reviewed not long ago). I think that qualifies you as a manufacturer if you have products available, even if you aren't necessarily selling them on the open market.
The line between manufacturer and private hobbyist is somewhat blurred in small industries like swords, and right now you're sitting on the boundary there. People like Frank the Bunny make some money customizing swords, for example, and as I mentioned before Tom K sharpens swords for payment.
So basically what I'm saying is that if you feel you have been dealt with unfairly, then contact a moderator. If you feel that other members are deliberately bothering you, then contact a moderator.
One last note: In all honesty and not intending any offense, I've noticed that your English skills are perhaps not that of a native speaker? Perhaps people would understand your posts better if you asked someone to proof it for you and otherwise assist you in explaining yourself better. For example, you've often said that people don't understand you when you try to explain how you sharpen swords. That is one way you could get the message across better. Just an idea, and again, if you were born here and English is your first language, I'm not trying to offend you or anything... just trying to be helpful!
Anyway, that's my two cents on the issues you're talkin about here... hope I don't get ninja'd!

Dadao, I think he's trying to say that a little time proofreading your posts with proper spelling, punctuation, and logical grammar would go a long way to helping your cause.
When I first read your posts, I had something of a hard time understanding your reasons as I couldn't read your posts as well.

I have found Dadao to be a nice fellow, most people don't understanding him for various reasons here at SBG. 1. They have little knowledge in swords, geometries, and how to even disassemble a sword. People think just because an edge bites, it's sharp but a crooked edge can bite just as well as a straight edge, the difference is that the crooked edge will not cut. 2. Most SBG'ers do not cut anything more then water bottles, not that there's anything wrong with it's hell of fun  . And don't get me wrong it's a great practice tool, however it does not bring out certain noticeable issues with the the geometry, and edges. Pool noodles are a bit better but require more speed then anything. Tatami omote and wara mats are where the real tests start.
When Dadao comes in and explains, his punctuation/grammer are issues however the #1 issue is the common lack of knowledge in cutting from many SBG'ers. As Dadao said, most people are concerned more with the fittings and how pretty it looks.
Look at most reviews. 86% is looks. 10% is pictures, 4% may be cutting (often times, poor cutting). There's very little information on the blade's edges, geometry, or performance. As I said before there are very very few good reviewers left. If you look at reviews however made by members of Blade forums you find tremendous amounts of information: edge retention, edge geometry, optimal usage of knife, different grip positions, etc. Yes it's still most looks but that 10%-20% of performance information helps educate the consumer to make smart purchases and eventually learn to do maintenance themselves. When I see reviews here and reviews in bladeforums man it's a world of difference most of the time. Some reviews however like TomK, Greg, and a handful of others actually use the swords extensively and have good insight on what mades a sword a good performer.
I too find Dadao's frustration to be all to similar with particular mods whom are more interested in pin pointing Dadao as a vendor, stop threads in their tracts before anything occurs to avoid potential law suits (stupidly cautious imho) and less to actually.. moderate the forums . My recent incident with getting a "warning" is proof. I found sometimes a mod's actions are blurred by bias, for example: During a thread that was crapped by Ricky Arias, Marc Kaden came in and said Ricky Arias had gone through a lot (as if it was an excuse for him to be such an ass), everyone has a sob story Marc. Yet another moderator had mentioned Ricky A had too much of an elitist mind set and told everyone to chill. However for Marc Kaden, it's different and Ricky A is okay because he went through hell. Sorry bud but everyone has a sob story, it's how we handle it, and live out that counts, Ricky A obviously has some sort of obsession for JSA however how come he doesn't go after others? Just Dadao. I know few forums that would allow such behavior from any member as to stalk and crap one individual's thread.
Lastly and what really ticked me off was Marc Kaden's bullsemprini opinion of Ricky's swords calling them Chinatanas, yet never having held one, or bought one himself. Way to go, that kind of reviewing is what Paul is all about right? Wrong. Paul knew and understood that to criticize you must first experience it. So he bought swords, and reviewed them out of his own pocket to help the community. He didn't just look at pictures, and form a review did he? No. He did not go to forums and bash products without having owned or used such product. Yes because Ronin Katana's had such a stellar reputation when he first started with cheap fittings, but he provided a durable blade. Or how Ronin Katana bashed other manufacturers, etc. But why not call his swords Chinatanas? Or how about Hanwei's plastic habaki? Dynasty Forge cracked tsukas? How about Cheness' cracked tsukas, and still failing QC and bad customer service. I almost feel like buying 10 damn Cheness, and picking out the flaws with 10. However I won't do that because even if they came flawless, they would simply not be worth the money when I can get a KC or custom instead. Also because I know it would likely mean me getting kicked the hell out of SBG.
Second example: When me and steelhound were talking, very simply and politely a moderator comes in and publicly calls me immature and a troll (different thread). I did not appreciate it, coming from a mod however what could I do? Funny thing is in that very same thread another Moderator came out calling me a helpful member. What vast difference in opinion if you ask me. And this moderator, thinking I actually cared about being warned in SBG. You guys have your rules, and I will either follow them and agree with them or get out as I don't believe in using a service without mutual consent from both parties.
Apparently I was "slandering" Cheness because I reported faults with a friend's Kaze Ko Katana, including faults that the person I was talking to had himself reported (Steelhound reported blunt edges, and Cheness' refusal to work with him). Regardless, proof was asked of me. Excuse me for not forcing my friend to join a forum he has no interest in. Excuse me for not driving 40 minutes to take pictures. But okay, warn me all you want. Take me to court if you really want to, judge will just look at it, my friend will come testify, the judge will then tell Cheness to bug off then I will simply counter sue and recoup my losses+interests as well as a reimbursement for my friend including interests as is afforded by law. When I speak, I put my money where my mouth is. When me and Dadao were fighting, I put my money where my mouth was and bought his tanto, and I am very glad I did. When I am in doubt with members talking about blade to blade contact, I go and destroy two swords, to get results. When I wonder how much abuse swords will take with different geometries/steels, I put my money where my mouth is. (not only my money but my pride, and reputation). I actually have information, however that information will not go public here in SBG, would likely turn bad asap. That's why in my edge to edge thread I made it very informal.
But apparently positive reviews require no proof even though they can have a worse impact on the consumer... Hmm. Interesting. This is when I give props to members willing to go the extra mile and expense to review products for SBG, to make a educated decision like Paul did.
Anyways I will leave this as is.

I think his videos speak for themself that he is indeed NOT full of semprini...show me a sword that can make a silent cut every time when you do your part or leave the mats static 90% of the time. his swords are made o perform and hes tryig to teach people how they can do it too and people wanna talk semprini about him. shame on you for pissing on a fellow forumite whos rying to help you. if you dont like what he has to say ignore it...some people are interested. That being said i think Dadaochen should just go ahead and make a vendors account so people will stop flaming him.

I know you did not say this, but it was implied. Or that is how people took your statements. No one is right or wrong on this part, people all take things differently. But I do think that is exactly what most of your problem has been, the above quote is what people make of you. That is NOT an attack, but a simple statement of fact from where I, as a bystander until now, see things. From(and to) both sides mind you.
This comes off as, to me, and I suspect others, as at best arrogant and at worst an attack and as is human nature discredits anything else you might say whether it is true or false. This reinforces the first part. Again not an attack on you. The way I see it when viewed from a rational point, you are defending yourself, but it still comes off as arrogant at first, and after that people tend not to think. An example. I have a cure for a disease, it is perfect. There are other "cures" out that might or might not work, depending on the person.Mine works better than the rest, the others can work, and in a significant amount do. If i say mine is great and the other peoples sucks,or even imply that they do people will take me for an arrogant jerk despite the 100% sucess(sp?) rate of my cure.
This is not really a simple matter though. Lots of things on the table. Do I think you are advertising? No. Did it come of that way? Yes. Advertising a service? No. Advertising your method? Yes. Is that wrong? No.
Now. Say I buy something that is at the limit of what I can afford, I will think that it is the best I could get for myself. Someone comes along and says its not, and I will get upset. See where things can go wrong? It is the consumer that decides what is "best" regardless of fact. I would suggest that you offer any methods or services you offer as alternitives, and not as betters(even if they are). "Hey, would you care to try this?" comes off better than "buy this, its way better than the rest." And I am afraid the latter is how most people took you from the start, even though that is not how you meant to come off.
As said before, I do not mean this as an attack against anyone involved, nor as a defence. This is, I hope, seen a a possible solution to this whole mess. I do not like coming on here and finding people fighting. Disagreeing is one thing, but this has gone passed that all around. We are not all friends, but we should all be on at least friendly terms with one another.

You know I had no problem when you talking about your sharpening. You attack me even with you say forgive me for my comment then you end it with an attack (making it into something else he's imaging ). I am not following you around I post in several places on here. I have ever called you names or called you mental. I could have said several other things I reframed from doing so.
